Chainalysis, a company specializing in blockchain analysis, enhances its efforts against cryptocurrency criminal activities with the addition of Jim Lee. In his new role as Global Head of Capacity Building at Chainalysis, Lee will utilize his experience from leading the IRS-CI unit.

Lee will collaborate with regulatory bodies, law enforcement teams, tax departments, and financial organizations. By leveraging Chainalysis tools and data, he aims to assist them in developing effective strategies for combating crypto-related crimes.
For 29 years, Lee held the position of IRS chief, during which time the agency achieved significant victories. While leading IRS Criminal Investigations for an additional three years, the team dismantled Hydra, a notorious darknet marketplace. Furthermore, they confiscated cryptocurrency assets linked to Hamas. Lastly, they took down Welcome to Video, a darknet platform that promoted and facilitated child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Lee acknowledged that virtual currencies offer many capabilities, yet admitted they are often used for illicit activities. He underscored the need for law enforcement with sophisticated technology and information to boost security in the realm of cryptocurrencies and protect users.
