Chance the Rapper x Joey Purp Reconnect on “Bad Boys 2”

As a seasoned gamer and music enthusiast who’s spent countless hours immersed in the vibrant cityscape of Chicago, I can confidently say that “Bad Boys 2” by Chance the Rapper and Joey Purp is a must-listen. Their chemistry is undeniable, reminiscent of the dynamic duo Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the iconic Bad Boys franchise.

Chance the Rapper and Joey Purp have a rich history of collaboration, with songs like “Girls @” and “My Own Thing” under their belt. They’ve teamed up once more, this time in the studio as well as the streets and waters of Chicago aboard the S.S. Star Line, to release “Bad Boys 2.” This is a tribute to Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s “Bad Boys” movie series.

In a fresh and understandable rewording: The chemistry between Chance and Purp remains strong; Purp takes on the first verse, while Chance tackles the second. “My favorite hoodies at a friend’s apartment / Yet I feel secure knowing Nina’s got my back like I’m Rondo,” starts Chance in his verse. “Sitting on my lap as we navigate Chicago / Now we command the vessel, but when we arrived here, we were freight.”

In a more visually descriptive manner, they travel to Chicago to hand over the sports car and ship-bound goods under the bright daylight.

As a fervent admirer, I eagerly await the arrival of “Bad Boys 2”, following Chance’s live stream on Instagram where he dropped intriguing insights about his upcoming Star Line Gallery album.

“Stop calling it ‘the album.’ And I don’t mean that in an ungrateful way,” he began. “I’m grateful that people are putting in my comments, ‘Drop the album’. I’m not going to drop the album until y’all start calling it Star Line. I hope that y’all understand that. I understand how all this stuff works. ‘Drop the album.’ That’s for all the other artists. That’s for all everybody else, whose work I also appreciate. But what I’m doing is something different. It’s something very specific. It’s called Star Line.”
