Channing Tatum Drops Bombshell on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Role

Channing Tatum has openly discussed his role in the much-anticipated film, “Avengers: Doomsday“. However, there is speculation as to whether he will indeed portray the character Gambit. Despite numerous attempts to launch a standalone Gambit movie, Tatum’s dream of embodying this popular X-Men figure came true in “Deadpool & Wolverine”. In that film, Tatum’s portrayal of Gambit was highly praised and left audiences pleasantly surprised at his inclusion in the “Avengers: Doomsday” cast.

At Cinema Con, Channing Tatum spoke to Extra about his role in Avengers: Doomsday. Although fans have presumed that Tatum will be playing Gambit in this film, Tatum has been vague about the characters’ names being confirmed, only stating that the actors are involved. He hinted that he might not be portraying Gambit but another character instead. However, he hasn’t explicitly denied that he is playing Gambit either. I’m simply emphasizing that no concrete information has been disclosed beyond his participation in the movie. Tatum stated:

> “I’m part of Avengers: Doomsday, but as for who I’m playing, well, that’s still a bit under wraps.

To put it simply, all I was promised was a seat for the movie. They assured me I have a seat, and at least I can observe the film from there. You understand, and my role wasn’t Gambit, it was more of a yes or no kind of job. So far, I’ve only been given a seat to watch the movie, that’s where I currently stand.

It’s true that Tatum is correct in pointing out that no official character names have been announced, with fans merely speculating about the actors reprising their roles as X-Men. However, it’s almost a given, considering that the X-Men team are now part of the official synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday. Although Gambit wasn’t explicitly mentioned, his return was hinted at in a discarded post-credits scene from Deadpool & Wolverine. This scene showed Gambit in the Void, where he witnessed a sling ring portal opening up, which could imply future journeys and plans for the MCU that have been in the works for quite some time.

What Exactly Do We Know About ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Doomsday, including if Halle Berry’s statements about not being involved are genuine or misleading. The status of Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the movie is undecided, and there’s speculation that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could follow a similar pattern to Ant-Man and the Wasp, presenting a story within the timeline of the preceding Avengers film. This seems plausible for Doctor Strange as well, according to recent reports.

It appears that Taylor Kitsch is strongly expected to reprise his character, Gambit, which could imply he’ll join the X-Men from 20th Century Fox in their upcoming battles. James Marsden as Cyclops and Kelsey Grammer as Beast are also set to return, possibly shaping the X-Men team for “Avengers: Doomsday” after popular teams seen in “X-Men: The Animated Series” and “X-Men ’97”. This speculation originated a year ago regarding what some believed would be the main X-Men film within the MCU’s “sacred timeline”. This suggests that we may see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, Halle Berry as Storm, and Anna Paquin as Rogue potentially make an appearance too. There’s even a possibility that the long-awaited Gambit and Rogue romance might unfold in “Avengers: Doomsday”.
