When Channing Tatum appears on screens, dancing, audiences take notice – be it in the sensual sequel “Magic Mike XXL”, the original installments of “Step Up”, or even the musical comedy “Hail Caesar” by the Coen Brothers. Therefore, it’s no wonder that his Super Bowl commercial alongside Wrexham’s soccer team has been well-received by fans since its online and television debut. Moreover, the actor only has positive words for club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney from “21 Jump Street”.
For several years, Reynolds and McElhenney have showcased their playful camaraderie in FX’s popular unscripted series “Welcome to Wrexham“, with Season 4 set to premiere in the 2025 TV lineup. Tatum had a taste of this camaraderie during his visit to Wrexham for a commercial, and he expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the experience, as well as the two men who made it possible, through an Instagram post filled with kindness and respect.
Apart from coffee breaks and dancing sprees, my visit to Wrexham was an unforgettable experience. The transformative work by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in that community is nothing short of magical. I stayed there for a few days, immersed in the town’s optimistic spirit and unwavering loyalty. It was so heartwarming that I wished to stay forever. Kudos to both Ryan and Rob for their remarkable work. Good people indeed create great things. A big thank you to the wonderful folks of Wrexham. Here’s to Wrexham AFC! @wrexham_afc
It’s important to note that while Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney played significant roles in boosting Wrexham AFC’s reputation, it was ultimately the local residents who made the football club an attractive investment opportunity. However, the duo, known for their roles in Deadpool and It’s Always Sunny, helped bring global attention to the team, particularly with a commercial aired during the most-watched TV event of the year. If you haven’t seen the advertisement just yet, feel free to click play and resist the urge to start breakdancing on your sofa, desk, or train seat instead!
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can relate when Channing Tatum confessed his apprehensions about shooting an ad surrounded by so many athletic legends. I couldn’t help but worry that they might perceive me as just another goofy American actor. Yet, those fears proved unfounded, and it turned out to be a truly enriching experience working alongside such a remarkable team.
It appears that the best approach to promoting this ad would be by casting Channing Tatum in a film where he plays a globally recognized soccer star who is equally adept on dance floors. The plot may include a heist, potentially with a subplot of a high-ranking official’s daughter being abducted. Only time will tell if his rhythmic moves can save the day, or perhaps it could be a tap-dancing adventure. But remember, I’m just brainstorming ideas for this fictional project…for now.
Now did somebody say something about cold brew?
