Chappell Roan brought the 2025 Grammys crowd to the “Pink Pony Club.”
At the age of 26, I found myself nominated for a staggering six awards, among them Best New Artist and Album of the Year. As the evening unfolded on Sunday, I took to the Grammy stage for the first time, delivering an unforgettable performance that left me awestruck.
Roan shot to superstardom last year. Her first album, titled “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess“, made its entry onto the Billboard 200 in April, five months following its initial release in September 2023. This notable achievement was just the start, as the singer managed to get multiple tracks from her debut album on the Billboard 100 throughout 2024. “Pink Pony Club”, which was initially released in 2020, has remained on the chart for 32 weeks and currently ranks at No. 46.
Olivia Rodrigo, who’s been taking Roan along as an opening act on her recent concert tours, introduced her friend. “I hail from a small town called Willard, located in southwest Missouri,” Roan shared in a prerecorded video prior to her performance. “Growing up, I felt incredibly secluded. There were times when I thought I wasn’t good enough because I was gay. I believe my younger self could have benefited greatly from someone like me as a role model.
Roan expressed her fondness for Los Angeles, which aligns with its nocturnal ambiance. She described “Pink Pony Club” as a heartfelt tribute to the city. “Los Angeles is my muse,” she declared. “This city has empowered me to embrace my true self. Here, I experience the greatest freedom.

In a rustic setting, Roan, adorned in a vibrant jumpsuit and cowboy hat, perched on a big pony during her performance, which was heavily influenced by the country theme. Accompanying her were several dancers with clown-like makeup and rural costumes. The exhilarating show served as an excellent demonstration of why Roan has had such a successful year, causing the entire Grammy audience to stand up, cheer, and join in on “Pink Pony Club.” This memorable instance is certain to be a standout moment of the event.
Roan made her debut at the Grammys in 2025 with her performance, but the previous year’s MTV Video Music Awards saw her Joan of Arc-themed rendition of “Good Luck, Babe!” becoming a hit among the audience.
