As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say, the bosses in this game are something else! I remember the days when I would face off against the infamous Dragon from “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” and the terrifying Alien Xenomorph from “Aliens: Colonial Marines”. But these creatures pale in comparison to the formidable bosses hidden within Chapter 1 of this new game.
In the game Black Myth, Wukong leads you through a realm filled with formidable foes around every corner. The primary categories of these adversaries are the Yaoguai Chiefs and the Yaoguai Kings, each presenting unique challenges to overcome.
As a gamer, I find that the Chieftains in this game serve as guardians of the lands brimming with immense power, while the Kings among the Yaoguais provide the ultimate challenge for combat enthusiasts like myself. These kings are the main characters and offer the most thrilling encounters within the storyline.
Chapter 1 All Bosses
In Chapter 1, named “Black Cloud, Red Fire,” there are several challenging bosses hidden away in tough-to-find spots that could be missed if you’re not careful.
Rest assured—this tutorial will provide details on every boss in Chapter 1, along with their respective positions and useful suggestions for overcoming them.
Bullguard
In my gaming adventure, the first formidable foe I encounter in Chapter 1 is none other than the Bullguard, a colossal beast dwelling within the Forest of Wolves. Engaging this boss sets the stage for mastering the combat system in Black Myth: Wukong, as its methodical and foreseeable attacks offer an excellent opportunity to hone my dodging skills.
Instead of some optional bosses, you must conquer this one to advance further. During combat, a scene will unfold, and you’ll gain access to the Immobilize Spell. This spell can then be utilized to subdue Bullguard.
Guangzhi
In the region known as “Outside The Forest,” you’ll encounter another tough boss named Guangzhi. He wields a fiery sword and his rapid, unrelenting combo attacks make him a challenging adversary.
As a gamer, I’ve found that by employing the right tactic, specifically one involving the Immobilize Spell, I can effectively hinder his progress and ultimately emerge victorious.
Wandering Wight
In the “Outside The Forest” region, you’ll encounter the elusive Wandering Wight as your boss. This secretive adversary doesn’t show up in your journal, adding an element of mystery. It serves as a challenging opponent right at the start of the game, making it wiser to revisit after leveling up to tackle it more efficiently.
Remember that if you defeat Elder Jinchi before facing the Wandering Wight, the Wandering Wight will disappear. Make sure to tackle the Wandering Wight first, as its rewards are worth the effort.
Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
In the river of the Bamboo Grove, you’ll encounter a colossal, frog-resembling adversary known as Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang. Although not exceptionally challenging, it can be frustrating due to its powerful backward kicks and tongue whip attacks.
Even though it seems weak in health, exhibiting patience and accurate timing are crucial for its defeat. Upon its demise, you’ll be able to capture its Spirit, which you can utilize later in the game to metamorphose into that particular creature.
Guangmou
As I traverse through the enchanting Bamboo Grove, I can’t help but notice Guangmou standing boldly on the main trail. This formidable foe boasts a versatile arsenal, employing ranged attacks, devastating shockwaves, and toxic sprays. To emerge victorious, staying alert and meticulously managing my stamina is absolutely crucial.
By skillfully evading and defending yourself, you can defeat him. It’s strongly recommended that you are at least level 20 prior to challenging this boss.
Whiteclad Noble
Nestled within the Foggy Marsh lies the distinctive Whiteclad Sovereign. Instead of being like typical Lords or Rulers, this boss has two distinct forms. In its initial stage, it appears as a humanoid figure, but in its subsequent form, it morphs into a creature reminiscent of a merman.
Overcoming this shape-shifting adversary can prove tricky, particularly when it twists into a serpentine form that’s elusive to follow. However, mastering the Pillar Stance and prudently conserving your energy will help you maintain control throughout the battle.

Lingxuzi
As a dedicated admirer, I’d like to share my insights about Lingxuzi, the initial ruler among the mighty Yaoguai Kings. In the heart of Guanyin Temple nestled deep within the Forest of Wolves, this boss cuts an imposing figure, reminiscent of a colossal wolf. Despite his daunting appearance, he follows a relatively simple attack pattern: a two-step swipe combo and a relentless charging bite.
With some practice and strategy, you’ll be able to defeat Lingxuzi.
Black Wind King
The Black Wind King is found in the Black Wind Cave and is one of the most challenging bosses in Chapter 1. It has long attack combos and can become an invincible wind gust.
To conquer this battle successfully, you’ll need impeccable timing and an effective game plan. You may find it helpful to employ skills from past boss encounters, such as the Red Tide Spell and the Wandering Wight Spirit, to streamline your efforts in this engagement.
Elder Jinchi
In Chapter 1, you’ll find that Elder Jinchi can only be confronted after locating and ringing three concealed bells. Once this mission is accomplished, you will be teleported to the Ancient Guanyin Temple, where Elder Jinchi resides amidst a ghastly pile of bodies.
1. Hurry to vanquish him, for if his dead bodies approach, he can regenerate. Defeating Elder Jinchi will earn you the Fireproof Mantle Vessel as your prize.
Black Bear Guai
As a devoted admirer, I can attest that the enigmatic figure known as Black Bear Guai serves as the culminating adversary in Chapter 1. This formidable version of the Black Wind King is a force to be reckoned with. Perched atop Bodhi Peak, this boss wields potent fire-infused abilities and an intimidating wind charge that demands caution.
It’s wiser to defeat Elder Jinchi early in the battle as it will increase your odds of winning. Defeating Elder Jinchi will earn you a reward that can help you endure Black Bear Guai’s intense fire assault more effectively.
The Red Loong
The Red Loong is undoubtedly the most secretive boss in Chapter 1 since it needs to be unlocked with an item from Chapter 2. First, you’ll need to collect the Loong Scale from Chapter 2. Once you have it, return to the Forest of Wolves, dispel a waterfall to reveal a hidden arena, and face the Red Loong.
In Chapter 1, this boss presents a formidable test; ensure you’re equipped with the necessary abilities to defeat him.
