For several years now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been generating a substantial amount of live-action TV content for Disney+ subscribers, thereby broadening the franchise’s scope. However, there was a period when Marvel’s shows were on Netflix, and certain characters are coming back as a result of “Daredevil: Born Again”. This includes Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal, who have recently poked fun at their past injuries while portraying Daredevil and Punisher.
While Daredevil and The Punisher were both originally available with a Netflix subscription, Disney+ has since picked up those shows and continues to produce new ones. Some fans are hoping they appear in upcoming Marvel movies, but their reunion in Born Again is definitely thrilling. In a video circulating on Instagram, Bernthal confirmed he’s broken his nose a number of times, including on The Punisher. As he put it:
Well, regarding the Punisher, I admit I had caused some damage to it in the past. And, unfortunately, I’ve gone and damaged it once more. However, if you look closely, you’ll notice that the state of it is currently 15.
Wow, such dedication! The intensity of this wound demonstrates just how deeply committed Jonathan Bernthal gets when filming fight scenes, as evidenced by his remarkable performances in “The Walking Dead” and his portrayal of Frank Castle within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Truly a testament to his commitment!

During the same interview, Charlie Cox was questioned about whether he had ever caused any of Bernthal’s nose breaks, considering their numerous fights in Daredevil. However, he denied this claim but shared an injury he received from his fellow actor. In his words:
“Indeed, there were times we clashed physically, but it wasn’t me who broke Jon’s nose. On the contrary, I ended up getting hurt by him.
I’ve never experienced anything quite like it… He struck me so forcefully in the chest that I couldn’t catch my breath, feeling as if the air had been knocked out of me. I needed a moment to recover. It was the first and only time I’ve felt compelled to ask, “Easy on me.
In other words, that was quite a blunder. To put it more casually, they botched it a bit. Performing exhilarating action scenes inevitably carries some dangers, and it seems like both Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal have had their fair share of injuries. Yet, neither of them shied away from rejoining the cast for Daredevil: Born Again.
Near the conclusion of the interview, Cox assured Bernthal that he hadn’t inadvertently hurt him, expressing his concern.
I’ve never hurt you, have I? Only emotionally.
It’s evident that these two characters share a strong bond, one that fans are excited to witness unfold in the upcoming Daredevil series on screen. For quite some time, fans have dreamt of seeing the Netflix characters rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following brief appearances by Charlie Cox in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, he’s now set to lead the stage in Born Again, a series as action-packed as its previous installments.
Each week, new episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again” will be released on Tuesday, as part of Disney+’s 2025 television premiere schedule. Fingers crossed that both actors remain unscathed during their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
