The movie “Chhaava,” featuring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, is creating a splash at the box office with impressive earnings. The acting skills of all cast members are garnering immense praise from cinema enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Dabbawala Association has asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to exempt “Chhaava” from taxes within the state.
As per a report in Mid-Day, the association has submitted an official request to Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, asking for the film Chhaava to be exempted from taxes. This historical epic follows the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and depicts his courageous struggle against Aurangzeb.
The article disclosed that in a correspondence, the association emphasized its long-standing links to the Maval region, where numerous Dabbawalas hail from. “Our forefathers were soldiers in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s army and battled alongside him on the battlefield. We hold both Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in high regard,” stated Subhash Talekar, the head of the Mumbai Dabbawala Association.
The group underscores the significance of making the movie exempt from state taxes, as this would allow more individuals to view it and potentially motivate upcoming generations. Furthermore, they commend Chhaava for accurately depicting the life and selfless acts of the renowned historical figure.
They believe that exempting the film from taxes would enable more individuals to witness the Maratha king’s heritage and bravery, thus amplifying his tale and making it resonate strongly with a broader public.
Under the guidance of director Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan at Maddock Films, the movie titled “Chhaava” is a captivating historical drama. It primarily focuses on the life story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the son of renowned warrior and king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about the stunning movie that graced our screens on Valentine’s Day of 2025! I was absolutely thrilled to see Vicky Kaushal step into the lead role, and let me tell you, he truly embodied the spirit of the title character. His on-screen wife, Maharani Yesubai, was brilliantly portrayed by none other than Rashmika Mandanna, who managed to steal my heart just as easily as she did the emperor’s!
The formidable Akshaye Khanna took on the challenging role of Aurangzeb, adding layers of complexity and intrigue to the plot. And let me not forget the exceptional performances by Divya Dutta, Diana Penty, Ashutosh Rana, and Vineet Kumar Singh in their key roles that helped weave the rich tapestry of this epic tale.
This film is a must-watch for any movie lover, and I can’t wait to see it again!
In the opinion of TopMob’s review, Laxman Utekar’s film Chhaava attempts to portray the tale of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj with respect and passion on screen. Although it has some shortcomings in sound design, song quality, and tempo, the movie is supported by its powerful lead acting performances.
