Chhorii 2 actor Soha Ali Khan reveals mom Sharmila Tagore was family’s breadwinner, dad Mansoor played cricket for enjoyment: ‘There was no money…’

Soha Ali Khan is preparing for the launch of her next film, Chhorii 2, alongside Nushrratt Bharuccha. This movie serves as a follow-up to the popular 2021 horror production. Since there’s always curiosity surrounding the Pataudi family, it’s no surprise that questions about them come up during Soha’s promotional activities for her upcoming project. In a recent conversation, she shared an intriguing fact: her mother, Sharmila Tagore, was the one who supported the entire family financially.

Absolutely! You’ve got it correct. During an interview with Just Too Filmy, Soha Ali Khan shared that her dad, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, served as her role model and significantly impacted her. She revealed that he was a retired cricketer by the time she was born. Despite there being no financial rewards in cricket during his era (the 1960s) – no IPL, endorsements, or anything of the sort – she continued to play for her love of the game.

In simpler terms, Soha Ali Khan, famously known for her role in Rang De Basanti, shared that her mom, Sharmila Tagore, was the primary income earner in their household growing up. As a result, she often recalls her father encouraging her mother to pursue what brought her joy instead of financial security. Moreover, Soha admires her mother for maintaining this philosophy throughout her life as an actress, always following her heart’s guidance rather than societal expectations.

At the age of 24, she chose to marry, which was somewhat uncommon for women at the time. You’re aware that marriage can impact your career to some extent. She had a child a few years later, but she still continued her work and achieved some of her greatest accomplishments afterward, as her daughter noted.

Regarding Chhorii 2, the director, Vishal Furia, who previously led the first film, is at the helm once more. In this follow-up, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani, Saurabh Goyal, Pallavi Ajay, Kuldeep Sareen, and Hardika Sharma are among the primary cast members.

The movie will make its worldwide debut on April 11, 2025. It’s being brought to you by production houses like T-Series, Abundantia Entertainment, Psych, and Tamarisk Lane Productions.
