In a recent premiere on April 11, 2025, the movie “Chhorii 2,” starring Nushrratt Bharuccha and Soha Ali Khan, made its debut on Amazon Prime Video. This film has been gaining positive reviews for its captivating plot and exceptional acting performances. Notably, Nushrratt Bharuccha spoke candidly about not landing major roles like Shraddha Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, despite delivering hits. She expressed contentment in working on ten films over a span of twenty years instead.
Nushrratt Bharuccha has appeared in popular movies such as Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. In a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, she was questioned about her feelings regarding not landing large-budget films despite launching the same year as Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor and delivering successful movies.
I can’t help but exclaim, “Man, they really seem to have the inside scoop! They’re deeply immersed in the scene, and they’ve got contacts that go beyond just their circle. It feels like it’s not only them, but their family or close acquaintances who hold the keys to this industry.
In simpler terms, the actress from The Chhorii 2 stated that it’s difficult for her to access the same opportunities as star kids because they often have easier access due to their connections. They are aware of paths and possibilities in the industry that she isn’t even aware exist, which is a genuine challenge she frequently encounters.
Apart from discussing her experiences post “Pyaar Ka Punchnama”, Nushrratt shared an incident where she yearned to connect with a director she admired yet was unsure about reaching out. After mustering courage and sending a random message to Kabir Khan, she admitted being uncertain if he’d reply. Surprisingly, he did respond and even invited her for a meeting. She stated that this simple message significantly brightened up her day.
The actress admitted that it can be extremely difficult for people outside the industry to contact or arrange a meeting with a filmmaker. Although she prefers not to label them as ‘nepotism children’, she acknowledged that star kids face their own pressures and expectations. However, she noted that they often have access to opportunities and entry points into the industry that are unavailable to those on the outside.
Nushrratt Bharuccha graciously acknowledged her gratitude, stating, “I’d have cherished additional chances, more affirmations than denials. I would’ve appreciated understanding why someone else was chosen instead of me. However, I remain content with all the films I managed to be a part of over the past 20 years.
For those who might not know, the sequel to Chhorii, titled Chhorii 2, made its debut on Amazon Prime Video on April 11, 2025. Nushrratt Bharuccha assumes the leading role as Sakshi in this movie. Alongside her are Soha Ali Khan, Saurabh Goyal, Gashmeer Mahajani, Pallavi Ajay, Kuldeep Sareen, and Hardika Sharma. Vishal Furia is at the helm as the director, while Bhushan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, Krishan Kumar, and Jack Davis are the producers of this film.
