Chicago Fire Season 13: Episode 13 Features The Return Of A Familiar Villain

Contains spoilers for “Chicago Fire” Season 13, Episode 13 — “Born of Fire”

In the show “Born of Fire,” Hanako Greensmith’s character Violet Mikami, a skilled actor, finds herself in a tough spot. This is largely due to the return of Jared Lennox, portrayed by Wesam Keesh, who requires Violet’s assistance to exonerate himself. Their history dates back to Season 12 when they clashed over Jared’s questionable medical practices and disregard for Violet’s authority. Initially teamed up as ambulance partners, their relationship never flourished due to Lennox’s messy work and lack of respect. It was later revealed that he had a past drug problem, which raised doubts among his peers. The plot thickens when Lennox gets into trouble for administering a sedative under pressure from colleagues, failing to monitor the oxygen supply. This leads to Taylor Kinney’s character, Kelly Severide, filing a complaint against him, ultimately resulting in Lennox being discharged from the squad, further altering the “Chicago Fire” universe.

In the story titled “Born of Fire,” Violet is summoned to assist Lennox, who stands accused of negligent homicide. Interestingly, her love interest, Flynn Calhoun (Steven Strait), is defending Lennox and maintains he acted justifiably without any mistakes. Remarkably, Lennox’s accuser, Violet’s former partner, is under suspicion for an eerily similar act – inducing cardiac arrest in a patient due to administering incorrect medications. It transpires that only Violet can save Lennox by offering crucial information that no one else would be privy to.

Jared turns out to be more competent than Violet thought

Initially, Violet agrees to assist Flynn in a medical capacity, but it’s only after Lennox pays her a visit at the station that she is persuaded to reconsider working with him again. When Lennox reassures her that he won’t repeat his past mistakes and that his entire professional standing hinges on this case, Violet takes the matter seriously and examines the charges in detail. Despite Flynn’s efforts, the state refuses to dismiss the case. Later, Violet guides Flynn through each step of their conversation, and eventually, he experiences a sudden breakthrough.

It was discovered that an EKG (electrocardiogram) machine was available in the ambulance, which could have monitored the patient’s heart activity from the very beginning. After examining the records, it was found that the EKG didn’t show any drop when Lennox administered the medication to the patient. This implies that Lennox is innocent and the heart attack had nothing to do with the treatment the patient received. As a result, Lennox and Mikami begin a new friendship, as Lennox leaves his questionable past behind and old grievances are resolved and laid to rest.
