Christopher John Rogers Returns to the Runway With “Collection 015: Exhale”

Five years after taking a break from the CFDA calendar, designer Christopher John Rogers returned to the New York Fashion Week runway with a bang. The event, “Collection 015: Exhale,” took place in a dazzling display at the Brooklyn Fish Transfer building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This collection embodied the core values and vibrant spirit of the label, reimagining the spectrum of colors anew in a show that left every one of its hundreds of spectators spellbound.

According to the show details, “Exhale” is a heartfelt thank you from the brand to their customers, collaborators, and squirrel community who have been with them since they started as an independent American label. Inspired by the work of artists Angela de la Cruz and Hélio Oiticica, known for their resistance to limitations, “Exhale” takes CJR’s interpretation of the rainbow to a new dimension. Each piece in this collection embodies authenticity and encourages free artistic expression.

In today’s world where personal identity is often questioned globally, chasing one’s own happiness and independence may seem like a difficult yet crucial journey. The ‘Collection 015’ mirrors this spirit of rebellion and uniqueness by presenting delightful, quirky designs that effortlessly blend into your wardrobe, symbolizing a bold stride in fashion-forward readiness.

Breathing out” leads us on a vibrant journey, starting with a row of garments in shades of red and orange, then progressing to green and yellow, and finally culminating in stunning multi-colored ensembles, sets, and combinations. Fabrics range from matte cotton piques and twill to wool tailoring, luxurious satins, and silk grosgrain.

In the “Exhale” collection, the designer not only showcased vibrant pieces in reds and greens but also introduced some subdued gowns and black garments. Among the eye-catching lime green fringed shirts and multi-colored coats, you’ll find elegant all-black gowns and suiting options. Although predominantly black, these designs didn’t shy away from color, featuring a corset gown with delicate rainbow stitching on the torso and a suit adorned with red accents. The final piece of the show was a sleek black trench coat, offering a minimalistic end to the vibrant showcase.

Despite facing industry hurdles lately, we’re thankful as a label to still be here, ready to share this collection. ‘Exhale’ is a tribute to our origins, blending bold evening wear with light-hearted daywear. It also marks our ongoing commitment to nurture our creative visions.
