As a lifelong fan of Superman and Christopher Reeve, I eagerly await the release of “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.” Having watched Reeve bring the Man of Steel to life on the big screen, it’s humbling to witness his transformation into an even greater hero in real life.
In the trailer for the documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story,” produced by DC Studios and Fathom Events, we see that even though Superman, played by Christopher Reeve, is now in a wheelchair, he remains an equally inspiring hero. This was unveiled on Monday.
“Reeve believes that a hero is simply someone with the courage to keep going and endure, even when faced with insurmountable challenges, as expressed in the film trailer about the legendary Hollywood actor who portrayed Superman in four movies of the franchise. Regrettably, Reeve passed away in 2004 at age 52, following a near-fatal horseback riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down.”
In spite of being left quadriplegic, the doctor shared that Reeve found the resolve to push past initial reservations about living, bolstered by the support of his loved ones, he dedicated his life to researching a cure for spinal cord injuries and championing disability rights and care.
The movie, titled “Reeve’s Hollywood: A Personal Journey“, is guided by the hands of directors Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, who previously worked on “McQueen“. This film delves into both Reeve’s professional and personal life, incorporating home videos and insights from his three children, as well as interviews with Hollywood peers and friends.
“Alexandra Reeve paid tribute by saying that her father was highly competitive and he usually didn’t reduce his pace.”
The movie that DC Studios, HBO Documentary Films, and CNN Films recently acquired at the Sundance Film Festival this year is set to premiere in cinemas nationwide on September 21, 2024. A repeat showing will take place on September 25, which coincides with the birthday of the actor famously known for playing Superman.
“The Christopher Reeve Story: Super/Man” is brought to you by Passion Pictures and Misfits Entertainment, both serving as producers. Words + Pictures are not only financiers but also involved in the production of this film.
The film’s international theatrical rollout will follow.
