Chuck Lorre to Keynote Banff World Media Festival

Chuck Lorre has been tapped to give a keynote speech at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be making my way back to the enchanting town of Banff in 2025, following my honor of receiving the prestigious Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award at a Canadian Rockies retreat back in 2012. As a seasoned comedy creator, executive producer, and writer, I’m looking forward to joining the Summit Series during the 46th edition of Banff from June 8 to 11, 2025.

At Warner Bros. Television, Lorre serves as the producer of “The Big Bang Theory,” as well as its spin-offs, including “Young Sheldon” and “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.” This creative powerhouse is also working on a comedy titled “Leanne,” featuring Leanne Morgan, for Netflix.

This year’s Summit Series in Banff will feature keynote speeches from Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi, and Keith Le Goy, chairman of Sony Pictures Television. For the first time, the Banff Gala Awards and the Rockie Awards international competition will be merged to honor the talent within the TV industry and celebrate TV series at a single event.

This year at the Rockie Awards, it’s expected to be a tight competition between American and British television creators, as US shows have garnered 54 nominations, while UK series are not far behind with 52 nominations.

Additionally, this year, South Korea will serve as the “Country of Distinction” and be honored with a special accolade at the Rockie Awards. Moreover, composer Hans Zimmer will be bestowed with a Career Achievement Award and engage in an informal chat session titled “In Conversation”.
