As a die-hard fan of Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, I can confidently say that I’ve been on this emotional rollercoaster since 1984. From Miyagi to Johnny, Daniel to Kreese, and now Miguel, Hawk, Samantha, and the rest – my life has been intertwined with theirs. The anticipation for Part 3 is palpable, like a karate chop to the heart, but I’ve learned to expect the unexpected from this series.
Cobra Kai is ready to land its final blow.
The popular Netflix show produced by Hayden Schlossberg, Josh Heald, and Jon Hurwitz is nearing its end, and it’s doing so in three installments. Having already aired Parts 1 and 2, the final chapter of Cobra Kai will air on Feb. 13, 2025 as part of Part 3/The Finale Event. Each installment comprises five episodes.
In their statement, Netflix mentioned that even though it seems like an ending, “we’re not skilled at farewells… because Cobra Kai just doesn’t quit!” This phrase indicates the series will continue in some form.
Schlossberg, Heald, and Hurwitz are excited about further developing their karate universe, discussing with The Hollywood Reporter the possibility of spinoffs, even considering a prequel for Mr. Miyagi. “The series will conclude our affection for The Karate Kid,” said Schlossberg, speaking with his co-creators post Part 2, “but our passion to work within the Karate Kid playground does not wane. It’s simply that this is a story primarily focusing on Johnny Lawrence’s redemption [portrayed by William Zabka], and this narrative arc will reach its end. … Whether it involves exploring some characters’ pasts or their future paths, there will undoubtedly be numerous opportunities in the final episodes.
In Part 2, a major antagonist made their comeback and it concluded with a lethal strike, implying that the demise of a contestant in the tournament will have significant consequences for Part 3.
In Part 3, following a surprising outcome at the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai are forced to confront their past as they navigate an uncertain present, both on and off the dojo. Nearly four decades after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it seems everything has been leading up to this pivotal moment.
I’m diving into a world filled with familiar faces, and here’s who I’ll be spending time with: Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Martin Kove as John Kreese, Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, Jacob Bertrand as Hawk, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Peyton List as Tory, Gianni Decenzo as Demetri, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso, Vanessa Rubio as Carmen, Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny, Yuji Okumoto as Chozen, Alicia Hannah-Kim as Sensei Kim Dae-Un, Griffin Santopietro as Anthony, Oona O’Brien as Devon, Rayna Vallandingham as Zara, Patrick Luwis as Axel, and Lewis Tan as Sensei Wolf. Can’t wait to see how they all shape the game!
The creators of Cobra Kai, Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg, work through their company Counterbalance Entertainment. Westbrook Studios, led by Will Smith, James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett, and Susan Ekins, along with Sony Pictures Television, are also involved in the production. Additionally, Macchio and Zabka have roles as executive producers.)
