As someone who grew up in the 80’s and was captivated by the original Karate Kid films, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming finale of Cobra Kai! The journey of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence has been a rollercoaster ride spanning four decades, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together in these final episodes.
Netflix’s hit series “Cobra Kai” is nearing its conclusion. As we approach the final chapters of the sixth season, the remaining five episodes will be released in February.
In addition to setting the release date for the final five episodes, the streaming platform unveiled a tantalizing sneak peek that hints at how the series will conclude. The trailer suggests “four decades of history converging at this point” as Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai grapple with their past while dealing with an uncertain future, both on and off the dojo floor. The finale picks up from the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, as depicted in the original Karate Kid movie with Ralph Macchio playing Daniel LaRusso. The central story revolves around Daniel’s rival Johnny Lawrence, portrayed by William Zabka in Cobra Kai. Originally shown from Johnny’s perspective, the series delves into his relationship with Daniel, years after the events of The Karate Kid. As they grow older, they run rival dojos and their rivalry escalates throughout the seasons. The cast includes Martin Kove, Thomas Ian Griffith, Xolo Maridueña, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser and Tanner Buchana, among others. Additional actors round out the ensemble, including Peyton List, Gianni Decenzo, Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio, Dallas Dupree Young, Yuji Okumoto, Alicia Hannah-Kim, Griffin Santopietro, Oona O’Brien, Rayna Vallandingham, Patrick Luwis and Lewis Tan.
In July 2024, the initial portion of season six was released, followed by five more episodes on Netflix in November. The concluding chapters of the season, or finale, are set to premiere on February 13, 2025. A fresh Karate Kid film featuring Macchio and Jackie Chan will hit theaters on May 30, 2025.
