Or, more casually:
The rapper-singer under new management with Cory Litwin at Range Media Partners is all set to drop his EP “What Happened to Forever” at midnight on Feb 12.
Leray expresses gratitude towards Epic Records, stating they comprehend him both as an artist and personally,” Leray shares with THR upon the announcement of the deal. “They value my creativity instead of dictating it, which is all an artist desires when partnering with a major label.
Before joining Sony Music’s subsidiary, Leray had previously released her music through Republic Records and Island Records, which are both part of the Universal Music Group.
In 2023, Leray released her smash hit single “Players,” which went platinum and garnered her a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards – her first in this category. Additionally, she was recognized in the Best Pop Dance Recording category of the same year, thanks to her collaboration with David Guetta on “Baby Don’t Hurt,” featuring British artist Anne-Marie.
Titled “What Happened to Forever“, this five-track project is deeply rooted in real-life experiences and has been characterized as profoundly personal. It boasts production by the likes of Tommy Brown, CashMoney AP, ItsnotHarold, and Johnny Goldstein, along with other talented individuals. This upcoming release marks the first project since her 2024 EP, “Lemon Cars“, from the 27-year-old artist hailing from New Jersey.
Leray noted that many people might not realize that artists experience genuine life situations, as she discussed her EP. This collection of songs combines deep self-reflection with a catchy pop sound, backed by soothing piano melodies and rhythmic beats. She’s on a healing journey, which is tough for her to discuss openly, but she finds solace in letting the music express what words can’t. Essentially, music provides her with the best outlet for releasing her feelings.
She mentions: “Upon sharing my story with Sylvia [Rhone] and Ezekiel [Lewis], it became immediately clear to me that they appreciated my journey as an artist. Their positive reaction and belief in me were a genuine testament to their understanding of my struggles.
Epic Records boasts a roster that includes the likes of Travis Scott, Andre 3000, Meghan Trainor, and Tyla, along with several other talented musicians.
