At the Oscars last night, The Hollywood Reporter managed to capture a moment that other cameras missed – another toast, fueled by Don Julio, this time led by Oscar nominee, Colman Domingo.

Wearing a tailored jacket by Valentino in vibrant red shantung silk and black pants, accessorized with dazzling Boucheron jewelry, the actor from Sing Sing transformed a break during commercials into an impromptu disco-funk dance party as a tribute to Los Angeles and its spirit of resilience amidst the destructive wildfires. With Maze & Woody Wood’s “Before I Let Go” providing the soundtrack, Domingo raised a bottle of Don Julio 1942 towards the crowd and exclaimed, “Happy Oscars everyone! Dance the night away!” The tequila bottles, each containing 50 milliliters, were uniquely engraved with “LA” inside a heart.

Last night in Los Angeles was a unique and memorable experience for everyone, considering everything we’ve faced recently,” the 55-year-old actor expresses to The Hollywood Reporter. “It was an honor to host a dance party to acknowledge our first responders and those who give this city its strength, along with my partner, Don Julio 1942. And let me tell you, you can’t say ‘tequila’ without ‘LA.'” (Take a look at Domingo’s toast here.)

As a fan, I can’t help but reminisce about last year’s Academy Awards when I was in on the joke alongside my favorite actor. It was during Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s segment that Guillermo Rodriguez, his sidekick, was also distributing mini tequila bottles. This year, Guillermo walked into the ceremony with a dazzling Don Julio bottle adorned with bling.

Last night’s tequila-fueled dance party solidified Don Julio’s collaboration with the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences (AMPAS) and Domingo. The actor from “Rustin” proposed a toast to the spirits brand at Saturday’s Motion Picture Television Fund’s “Night Before” event, where he served as chair, and at the 2024 Academy Museum Gala. Notably, this alcohol is customarily served during the Governors Ball, the official afterparty for the Oscars.

Even though custom-engraved bottles are exclusively for Oscars attendees, you can still create a memorable, award-winning experience by personalizing your own mini drink! Grab the Don Julio 1942 Añejo Chaparritos bottles online at Total Wine or Minibar.
