As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve learned to be discerning when it comes to pre-ordering video games. With Concord being PlayStation’s latest 5v5 online shooter, I’ve been considering which version to go for based on the available editions and their prices.
Two distinct editions of Concord, PlayStation’s newest 5v5 multiplayer shooter game, are available for customers to pre-order.
As an avid fan, I’d be happy to share some insights with you regarding which version of the upcoming release you should consider pre-ordering and where to find the best deals. Here are some key points:
Best prices for the Standard Edition
PS5
- $39.99 (PlayStation)
- $39.99 (Amazon)
- £32.85 (ShopTo)
PC
- $39.99 (Steam)
- $39.99 (Epic Games)
Best prices for the Digital Deluxe Edition
PS5
- $59.99 (PlayStation)
PC
- $59.99 (Steam)
- $59.99 (Epic Games)
In the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions of Concord, the primary distinction lies in the additional perks you get with the Digital Deluxe version. Instead of just the basic game, this premium package includes cosmetic skins for all 16 characters, as well as early access to the game for up to 72 hours prior to its official release on August 23, 2024.
As a gamer, I’d describe it like this: “The Northstar Free Gunner Pack is a cosmetic upgrade I can get for my character. It offers me some snazzy new looks for my weapons and outfits that add a bit more flair than the regular versions.”
Pre-ordering any edition grants you access to the “Vale’s Monarch Pack” bonus, featuring unique skins for both your character’s sniper and secondary weapon.
In my opinion, spending an extra $20 for the added features isn’t a good investment. If you don’t mind delaying playing the game, it would be wiser to hold onto your money. Keep in mind that most online games encounter server and balance problems during their initial release. By waiting, you can avoid potential frustrations.
Pre-order bonuses
Apart from the Monarch Pack in Vale’s Standard Edition pre-order, the sole additional incentive for pre-ordering is the opportunity to join the early access beta.
I’ve missed out on the early access beta which took place from July 12 to July 15. The beta is over now, and there’s no longer any exclusive benefits for me to pre-order the game right away, except for the desire to obtain the Vale’s Monarch cosmetic items.
PlayStation Plus
When Concord is released on PlayStation Plus in August 2024, it won’t be available for free as some might expect. Instead, players will have to buy the game individually if they wish to access and enjoy it.
Since the game is exclusively multiplayer and can’t be played solo, you must have an ongoing subscription to PlayStation Essentials – Sony’s most fundamental membership plan. With this subscription, you’ll be able to participate in online multiplayer sessions as the game won’t function without it.
I’m an experienced gamer who’s played on both consoles and PCs. From my perspective, it’s a relief to know that you don’t need PlayStation Plus to play games on your personal computer. However, based on recent developments, connecting your PC game to a PlayStation account has become a requirement for some Sony titles. This is a new experience for me, as I’ve never encountered this necessity while gaming on my PC before. Nonetheless, I’m open to adapting to the change and seeing how it enhances my gaming experience.
