Yesterday saw the majority of Season 4 cast for The Traitors being revealed, and at first, fan response was predominantly positive. However, there were minor gripes about a few personalities who didn’t make the final cut, as is often the case. But the overall sentiment seemed to be one of nearly universal excitement regarding the chosen cast members. This has now changed, with one contentious choice sparking heated backlash on social media from some fans.
Yesterday, rumors began spreading, just a few hours following the initial public unveiling of names on social media. Reality TV News/Updates hinted that an even more contentious figure might be part of the cast, although they kept the name under wraps until it was officially confirmed. This sparked a flurry of guesses among fans, ranging from Candace Owens to George Santos to Casey Anthony. For a moment, I thought it could be Matt Gaetz. However, it’s been confirmed that the individual in question is actually Michael Rapaport.
Over the last few years, the popular actor-turned-podcaster has become more vocal about his views, particularly when it comes to supporting Israel. Moreover, he’s become more politically assertive, and his blunt style has both gained him a significant following and made enemies online. It seems that Peacock is counting on this bold persona to generate engaging narratives and high-quality reality TV within the castle, but not every fan of “Traitors” is thrilled about his involvement in the show.
A significant number of announcements regarding the cast have sparked numerous user comments criticizing Rapaport, with one popular thread soliciting users to share his most offensive actions or statements. Remarkably, a post expressing a wish that the contentious individual had been accused of murdering Casey Anthony has garnered over a hundred likes.
You would have to imagine Peacock knew there would be some unhappy fans when they decided to cast Rapaport. He’s an openly divisive figure who has repeatedly commented very openly about Israel and Palestine. He also has more than two million followers on Instagram and has had recurring roles in major projects like Friends, as well as series regular roles on shows like Boston Public and Prison Break. He’ll no doubt bring some of his own fans with him, who may not have watched Traitors in the past.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the cast for this upcoming film is now complete! While some of the early rumors didn’t quite hit the mark, there are some delightful surprises in store. For instance, the host of Top Chef, Kristen Kish, the graceful Olympian Tara Lipinski, and the charismatic Stephen Colletti from Laguna Beach have all been confirmed. I can hardly wait to see these talents shine on screen! Right now, filming for Season 4 of “The Traitors” is underway in Scotland. Unfortunately, no release date has been set yet for viewers to enjoy the upcoming season. Historically, seasons have been released in January, but given the growing interest in the show, there’s speculation that Peacock might start releasing multiple seasons per year. We can only wait and find out what the schedule will be like and if we’ll see any of the structural changes some fans are requesting.
