In February, audiences can expect Seth MacFarlane’s film Ted 2, which may provoke viewers on a new streaming platform, to debut. The sequel, directed, starring, and co-written by Seth MacFarlane alongside Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, is the continuation of his 2012 hit comedy, Ted. Mark Wahlberg stars in the franchise, with MacFarlane providing the voice for the main character, Ted, a living teddy bear. In the first movie, Ted fell in love, and in Ted 2, Ted and his wife, Tami-Lynn (Jessica Barth), try to have a baby. However, since Ted isn’t legally considered alive, he faces difficulties becoming a father.
On February 16th, you can catch Ted 2 streaming on Netflix. Joining Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane, and others in the cast are Amanda Seyfried, Patrick Stewart (as narrator), Giovanni Ribisi, Morgan Freeman, Patrick Warburton, and Patrick Slattery. Additionally, several celebrities make cameos, such as Liam Neeson, Ryan Reynolds, Tom Brady, and Sam J. Jones. The movie’s plot is summarized as follows:
Recently married duo Ted and Tami-Lynn aspire to start a family, yet for the legal right to become parents, Ted must demonstrate his personhood in a court of law.”
“Ted and Tami-Lynn, newlyweds, desire to have a baby. However, in order to meet the criteria for parenthood, Ted is required to establish his legal status as a person in a court of law.
It wasn’t a shock that critics and viewers didn’t warm up to the satirical approach in Ted 2, which tackled America’s deeply rooted racism through a potty-mouthed, marijuana-smoking teddy bear. Regrettably, the movie received harsh criticism from both critics and audiences. Currently, it holds a rating of 45% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience score isn’t much better at 50%. However, despite the poor reviews and response, Ted 2 managed to be a financial success. Although it didn’t match the record-breaking gross of its 2012 prequel (which made an impressive $549 million globally), the film generated $215 million worldwide, which was significantly more than its production budget of $68 million.
‘Ted’ Season 2 Has Wrapped Filming
It’s fortunate that despite the negative reviews for “Ted 2”, the franchise didn’t falter. Last year, Peacock debuted the “Ted” prequel series, aptly named “Ted”. This eight-episode series was generally well-received by critics, earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of 74%. The show delved into Ted and John’s high school years, with Max Burkholder stepping into the role previously played by Wahlberg.
The show additionally features Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes, Giorgia Whigham, with Ian McKellen serving as the narrator. Shortly after its first season kicked off, Peacock confirmed that it would continue for a second season. Although there had been little news about Season 2 for quite some time, MacFarlane recently shared an exciting update with fans.
MacFarlane recently announced on social media that filming for Season 2 of Ted has now been completed. His post read: “We’ve finished shooting TED SEASON 2 today. A big thank you to our fantastic writers, actors, and crew for their outstanding efforts in making this season even funnier than before!
It’s still unclear when exactly Ted‘s second season will come out. But based on recent developments, it looks like we might see Season 2 this year itself. Keep an eye out for an official release date announcement which should be arriving within the next few months.
