Cooper Koch Wants to Star in Luca Guadagnino’s New ‘American Psycho’: “I Think I Can Do Patrick Bateman”

As a dedicated fan of the silver screen, I am absolutely thrilled about Cooper Koch‘s ambitious plans to step into the iconic shoes of Patrick Bateman in the upcoming adaptation of American Psycho. His captivating portrayal of Erik Menendez has already proven his versatility as an actor, and I can’t wait to see him bring the chilling charm of Bateman to life.

Following his captivating performance in “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” actor Cooper Koch now aims for his upcoming role, a challenging and legendary part.

At the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday evening, Koch told The Hollywood Reporter that since Luca is taking on American Psycho, he believes he can portray Patrick Bateman as his next project following Menendez.

Reports emerged on Friday indicating that Luca Guadagnino is close to securing the director’s position for a fresh adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel “American Psycho,” produced by Lionsgate. The original movie, released in 2000, featured Christian Bale portraying Bateman, a character who appeared to maintain two lives: one as an investment banker and the other as a ruthless serial killer.

Koch mentioned that he hasn’t taken on the role of a serial killer before, but he believes he could pull it off. Since his Netflix series debuted recently, he’s noticed an increase in acting opportunities coming his way. “Things are picking up speed, meetings are being scheduled, and progress is being made,” Koch said. “But nothing has been finalized or confirmed just yet.

Guadagnino’s latest movie is titled “Challengers“, released in theaters during springtime. This film features stars like Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist. Koch even declared it his favorite movie of the year, jokingly adding, “I’m quite fond of being a gay tennis enthusiast.

Guadagnino’s upcoming film titled “Queer” features Daniel Craig and will be hitting theaters on Nov. 27, courtesy of A24. Meanwhile, the director is in the process of postproduction for another project called “After the Hunt“, starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield.

Screenwriter Scott Z. Burns is penning the script for the upcoming “American Psycho” production, which hails from Frenesy Films and is not a remake of the initial adaptation, but rather a fresh interpretation of the novel. Sam Pressman of Pressman Films, whose father, Edward R. Pressman, was involved in the 2000 film as a producer, is overseeing this new rendition.
