- Crashlands 2 is getting a major new update
- Legends Mode is even harder, while Explorer Mode is more laid back
- New adjustments and other additions add even more fun to Crashlands 2
A month after its launch, Crashlands 2 has been positively reviewed by both critics and players. But instead of basking in their success, the developers at Butterscotch Shenanigans have rolled out a significant update. This new version introduces a challenging mode for players who’ve already conquered Crashlands 2, along with additional features to further enrich an already robust release.
In simpler terms, the “Legendary Mode” presents a tougher challenge as both extraterrestrial enemies and vegetation deal more damage. Simultaneously, your character, Flux Dabes, becomes noticeably weaker or “squishier”. However, there’s also the option of “Explorer Mode”, designed for those who prefer a more relaxed gaming experience, allowing players to focus on fishing (for heaven’s sake).
Significantly, Butterscotch Shenanigans has taken into account the feedback from players who missed the elements from the original Crashlands. Now, you can enjoy the return of the Compendium feature, which catalogs all the items you’ve discovered and indicates your progress towards uncovering 100% of them.

With the update 1.1, you’ll find a new purpose for your pet companions beyond their adorable appearances. They will now become battle-ready allies, fully capable of joining you in combat. Additionally, crafted armor will once again feature random bonuses, similar to how it functioned in Crashlands.
If you’ve been frustrated by the initial length of Crashlands 2, you’ll be pleased to hear that Butterscotch Shenanigans has made adjustments to address this as well. With version 1.1, they’ve added new weapons, gadgets, and trinkets at the start, giving you a chance to explore and enjoy the entirety of Crashlands 2 more quickly.
To make things clearer, let me rephrase that for you: In addition to customizable night-time dimness, expanded areas for construction and home teleportation, the improvements in Crashlands 2 are undeniably impressive!
