Critics Ignored ‘Screams,’ Rave Over ‘From Ground Zero’

Type “Screams Before Silence review” into Google.

Eventually, you’ll come across a small number of reviews, specifically fewer than five. To clarify, just one notable source has provided their take on the intense documentary – TheWrap.com.

The movie was released a year ago, runs approximately an hour, and has been accessible online through YouTube since then. This documentary provides a platform for survivors of the October 7, 20XX terror attacks in Israel to share their experiences, which are truly harrowing.

It all happened, unless we suddenly don’t “believe all women.”

Today, the impact and fallout from the incident continues to spark debate, as perspectives differ significantly. However, most movie reviewers have chosen not to critique the film, which was released back in April 2024.

Nothing has changed since then.

Let’s take a look at how the media reacted to “From Ground Zero” compared to now. This film was only shown in select cinemas on January 3, and it presents the events in Gaza from a viewpoint that supports Palestinians.

Literally.

Here’s the official description:

22 Palestinian filmmakers documenting their daily lives amidst conflict in Gaza during the last year present narratives that transcend news bulletins. Their artworks provide an impactful perspective on the delicate nature of life and the powerful endurance of love amidst destruction.

Currently, head over to Rotten Tomatoes and tally up the authentic critic reviews for a movie that’s been nominated for an Oscar.

38 critiques were shared, with notable media platforms such as The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, and RogerEbert.com offering their positive feedback. Additionally, lesser-known publications joined the chorus of approval.

Notice a difference? Think that’s a coincidence?

Modern movie critics often overlook films that don’t fit their perspective, as demonstrated by The Daily Wire team. They produced the most viewed documentary of the last decade, titled “Am I Racist?”, which has garnered 16 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with only one major platform offering it a chance (The New Yorker).

On October 7th, the attacks didn’t appear to have a political motive, at least not initially. However, some critics overlooked the most comprehensive documentary about the topic in favor of celebrating a movie with a radically different perspective.

Again, no accident.
