Crunchyroll Pushes Play on Isekai Smash-Hit Overlord Movie

Regarded as one of the top-notch anime series, Overlord continues its popularity and was recently released in a movie. At last, this anime movie can now be streamed on the largest global anime streaming service.

The recently released “Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom” is the continuation of the anime, following after the fourth season. Based on volumes 12 and 13 of the light novel series, you can now catch up with the rest of the story on Crunchyroll. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom Anime Movie Reincarnates Onto Crunchyroll Streaming

On April 24, 2025, “Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom” will make its way to Crunchyroll’s roster, having been previously shown in theaters nearly a year prior on September 2024. This movie was released two years following the latest season of the “Overlord” anime series, continuing the narrative by adapting the “Roble Holy Kingdom” storyline from the original light novels. Directed by Naoyuki Ito, who also handled the entire anime production, both the Japanese and English dubs of this new movie will be available on Crunchyroll. The cast for each dub is consistent with that of the anime, with Satoshi Hino voicing Ainz Ooal Gown in Japanese and Chris Guerrero doing so in English.

At 5 p.m. Pacific Time today, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom will be added to Crunchyroll. This means that both new viewers and those who have already watched Season 4 can enjoy the entire story (up to what’s been produced so far). For fans of Isekai Quartet, a parody crossover uniting Overlord with multiple other isekai series, it’s also available on the streaming service. It’s worth noting that adapting manga and light novel story arcs as anime movies instead of full seasons has become increasingly popular, with this approach used not just for Overlord, but also for the final arcs of other series.
