Abelita Cruz, famously recognized as the character Justin in three seasons of Lionsgate TV’s ‘Step Up: High Water’, has agreed to be represented by the CESD talent agency.
The dance drama, titled Step Up: High Watch, was a television revival of the well-known Lionsgate film series. Originally airing for one season on Starz, it later moved to YouTube’s premium streaming platform for its next two seasons. This series focused on the students and staff at High Water, Atlanta’s toughest performing arts school.
In addition to Ne-Yo, Faizon Love, Eric Graise, Terayle Hill, Enrique Murciano and Tricia Helfer, the series also featured Christina Milian, who stepped into the role previously held by Naya Rivera following her unfortunate death in a boating accident. The production company Lionsgate TV made this decision after consulting with Rivera’s family about replacing her in the scripted series.
In the production of these movies, it was a collaborative effort among the original producers: Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot, and Meredith Milton. They worked together with the original cast members Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, as well as series creator and showrunner Holly Sorensen.
In Atlanta, the city where she grew up, Step Up: High Water was filmed. As a budding young actor, Abelita first appeared on the big screen as Danny in the 2020 romance drama, Words on Bathroom Walls. Directed by Thor Freudenthal, this film also featured Charlie Plummer, Andy Garcia and Taylor Russell.
Abelita has starred in various TV shows such as Disney’s “Haunted Mansion”, Netflix’s “Christmas on the Square” alongside Dolly Parton, ABC’s “The Wonder Years”, Peacock’s “Please Don’t Destroy”, and NBC’s “Found”. In these productions, Abelita portrayed the character named Charlie.
Besides being with CESD, Abelita is also associated with the East Coast Talent Agency in Atlanta and Crackerjack Management based in Los Angeles.
