As a seasoned gamer and zombie apocalypse enthusiast, I must admit my heart skipped a beat when I saw the teaser for Sony Pictures‘ upcoming sequel to Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later. The cryptic nature of the footage only adds to the suspense, reminiscent of those late-night gaming sessions where every creak and groan could mean a zombie is lurking around the corner.
Sony Pictures has unveiled the initial trailer for “28 Years Later,” the eagerly anticipated zombie apocalypse sequel from renowned director Danny Boyle.
The video primarily shows darkness punctuated by Morse code sounds, images of a distant island linked by a lengthy causeway, and brief glimpses of statuesque figures that appear to be crucified zombies, along with red skulls and warning signs for contamination.
The studio is keeping things mysterious regarding the release, as they’ve made an uncommon move by not including a movie title or any details in the YouTube video. However, it was shared on Twitter from the verified 28 Years Later account on date X.
Online detectives seem to think the island resembles Lindisfarne in Northumberland, making it a plausible hideout if a zombie epidemic were to occur.
Following the occurrences depicted in “28 Weeks Later,” the Rage Virus re-emerges, leaving a band of survivors to endure in a world overrun by swarms of the infected.
Here’s a closer look at the island in the video:
In this movie, Cillian Murphy once again plays his character from the 2002 film “28 Days Later,” joining Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding on screen. The original writer of the movie, Alex Garland, has come back to write the script along with Danny Boyle.
According to reports, the movie was simultaneously made along with another sequel titled “28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple”. This upcoming production is being helmed by director Nia DaCosta, with screenplay by Boyle and Garland, and featuring actor Murphy in the cast.
28 Years Later will be released June 20.
