In a universe where the only constant is change (and the occasional existential crisis), James Wynn, a crypto trader with a penchant for high-risk shenanigans, has decided to take aim at Hyperliquid. Why, you ask? Well, it seems their referral program is about as appealing as a soggy biscuit. In a recent outburst on X, Wynn lamented that the lack of decent incentives is driving users away faster than a cat at a dog show. Apparently, Hyperliquid is generating a lot of volume, but their referral payouts are so ‘terrible’ that even a goldfish would be disappointed.
Wynn, in a fit of dramatic flair, revealed he made a whopping $34,000 from referrals. He called this amount “disappointing,” which is a bit like saying the universe is “somewhat large.” “Their referral program sucks,” he quipped, while other exchanges are apparently showering their users with rewards that could make a dragon jealous.
I was not paid a single cent by HyperLiquid.
I reached out on two occasions hoping to get some kind of partnership deal for all of the attention I was bringing them, and although they seemed thankful they don’t offer such deals to anyone. Which kinda makes sense considering…

The plot thickens! Wynn, in a twist worthy of a soap opera, revealed he attempted to strike a partnership with Hyperliquid not once, but twice! However, the DEX, in a move that could only be described as “policy-driven,” turned him down flat. Who knew that partnerships were as rare as a unicorn in a tutu?
Rumors swirled that Wynn’s high-octane trading was merely a marketing stunt, but he was quick to quash those whispers: “I was not paid a single cent by Hyperliquid.” But wait! A new contender has entered the ring—a CZ-backed dark pool DEX that Wynn believes could be the shiny beacon of hope he’s been searching for, especially if it offers better referral bonuses. Because who doesn’t love a good bonus?
Meanwhile, Hyperliquid’s HYPE token has surged nearly 50% in the last month, thanks to Wynn’s trades. But don’t get too comfortable, Hyperliquid! Wynn has threatened to walk away from crypto futures entirely, citing manipulation and transparency concerns. If CZ decides to launch his own DEX, it could very well be game over for Hyperliquid. And we all know how much the universe loves a good plot twist!
