CTRL actor Ananya Panday doesn't want Reddit and Photoshop to exist: ‘I want to see how people...'

As a die-hard fan of Ananya Panday and her captivating performances, I must say that her latest OTT movie CTRL has left me utterly spellbound! The way she portrayed the complexities of social media’s impact on mental health was nothing short of brilliant.

Right now, Ananya Panday is delighted by the favorable reception her latest OTT film, CTRL, has been getting. This movie, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, is a screenlife thriller that underscores the potential harm social media can inflict on one’s mental health and even lead to fatal consequences. In an interview during promotions, Ananya shared that she wishes platforms like Reddit and Photoshop wouldn’t exist.

Vikramaditya Motwane and Ananya Panday engaged in a lively discussion with Instant Bollywood, where they were asked about social media applications they believe should not be available. Ananya Panday initially mentioned Reddit, but later changed her mind and said she’d prefer if Photoshop didn’t exist. She explained that she wants to see people as they truly look, without photo-editing filters. When inquired if people still use the application, Panday clarified that she was referring to all photo editing apps in general. In contrast, the director expressed a desire for Twitter (formerly X) not to exist at all.

Since October 4th, Ananya Panday’s movie “CTRL” has been making waves on Netflix, garnering praise from both audiences and industry professionals. Just a day after watching the 99-minute film, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared a poster of the film on her Instagram Stories and expressed her thoughts. She wrote, “I highly recommend and think it’s a must-watch #CTRL. The movie is engaging from start to finish and exceptionally well-crafted. @ananyapanday, your performance was stunning! It made me swiftly delete several apps. Congratulations, team #CTRL.

Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap expresses his admiration for the narrative and acting skills shown by Ananya and Vihaan Samat. As a result, he publicly lauded the entire team through social media, posting the movie poster and stating, “Motwane’s latest creation is another hit! Pioneering in both technology and storytelling, this man consistently defies expectations and refuses to be confined. He has always been fearless and innovative – a true trailblazer for me. Motwane was my gateway into photography, sound design, and the significance of these aspects, as well as introducing me to Mac Book.

In a subsequent comment, the filmmaker behind “Gangs of Wasseypur” remarked, “Constantly one step ahead. He’s now crafted a contemporary horror tale for our times. This is a chilling thriller, truly terrifying, and offers an exceptional central performance by @ananyapanday. I had the privilege to watch it in the cinema, but it’s now available on @netflix.in. I recommend viewing it with quality headphones. Kudos to @nikhildwivedi25 for the courage to back this project and to the entire team. It takes as much courage to fund such a film as it does to create it. Well done, everyone.

Hansal Mehta, director of The Buckingham Murders, expresses that Vikramaditya Motwane’s latest film CTRL is both “perplexing” and “an unexpected discovery.” In his caption, Mehta praises Motwane as an intriguing filmmaker whose work consistently varies from one project to the next. He admires Motwane for his continuous efforts in innovation, exploration, experimentation, and discovering fresh stories while continually refining his cinematic vocabulary. While some of Motwane’s films can be a bit challenging at times, Mehta finds them completely captivating. In particular, he describes CTRL as a true mind-bender that offers an extraordinary revelation.

He not only praised Ananya, referring to her as “a remarkable talent,” but also wrote, “An extraordinary portrayal of our digital age and an exceptional showcase of a prodigious artist named @ananyapanday. She masterfully explores a troubling world, offering us a profound glimpse into the mind of someone navigating an alternate reality with both humanity and depth. Truly captivating! Following her confident performance in ‘Call me bae,’ I eagerly anticipate her future projects.
