Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is taking it to the street.
The former rapper, actor, and businessman is now part of the diverse ensemble for the movie version of Street Fighter, which is being produced by Legendary Entertainment based on the iconic Capcom video game series.
This group is quite varied indeed. The casting list spans from the famous Jason Momoa playing Blanka, through the charismatic Noah Centineo portraying Ken, all the way to the openly gay country artist Orville Peck in the role of Vega.
Joe Anoa’i, known professionally as WME superstar Roman Reigns, and martial artist-actor Andrew Koji (from the show “Warrior”) are set to take on the roles of battler Akuma and lead character Ryu respectively. Actress Callina Liang (“Presence”) will portray Chun-Li in the production.
Jackson is set to portray Balrog, a fallen boxer turned bodyguard to the film’s antagonist. Reports indicate that he’s fully immersed in preparations for the role, even taking on the challenging task of performing his own stunts during the production.
Legendary had no comment.
Kitao Sakuri, known from “The Eric Andre Show,” is set to be the director for this upcoming project, which will start filming in August down under in Australia. The esteemed company Legendary is teaming up with Capcom, not only as co-developers but also as co-producers of the feature.
Plot details are being kept in under wraps.
1987 saw the debut of “Street Fighter” as an arcade game, which later skyrocketed to prominence in pop culture with the release of “Street Fighter II” in 1991, significantly transforming one-on-one gaming experiences. The newest installment in the series, titled “Street Fighter 6“, hit the shelves in June 2023 and was honored as the best fighting game at the 2023 Game Awards.
50 Cent, the Grammy-winning artist who has sold more than 30 million albums, is recognized within Hollywood’s elite for his television empire, which primarily thrives from the multiple Power series on Starz. Additionally, G-Unit Film & Television produced ABC’s For Life, and they recently finished filming season four of Black Mafia Family for Starz, as well as the second season of the Black Mafia Family documentary series.
In the year 2024, Jackson teamed up with Lionsgate for the debut of 50 Cent Action, a top-rated action channel on streaming platforms like Roku and LG FAST, which has since claimed the title of No. 1 action channel on these platforms.
Jackson is repped by IAG, AKR Public Relations and attorney Steve Savva
