According to a report by Puck News (via Variety), it appears that Steven Knight, who was handling screenwriting duties for the upcoming Star Wars movie featuring Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey, has left the project. The reasons behind his departure remain unclear, but Lucasfilm is currently on the lookout for a replacement writer. Knight had replaced Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson in the scriptwriting role earlier on.
Daisy Ridley remains part of the cast for the upcoming film, while Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy continues to be in line for directing duties. As of now, there’s no official release date announced, but given its swift progress compared to other Star Wars projects, speculation suggests Disney may be aiming for a December 2026 premiere, replacing the current “Untitled Star Wars” movie on their upcoming schedule.
