The actress famed for portraying beloved character Michonne on AMC’s The Walking Dead has been added to a roster that already includes Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro.

Director Sam Hargrave, known for his work on the action-packed films like “Extraction”, will be filming a project this winter across various global locations such as Hungary and Slovakia.

1953 saw the birth of the Matchbox toy brand, which later became a part of Mattel in 1997. Initially, another company challenged Matchbox in the die-cast cars market by introducing their own line, Hot Wheels.

The specifics of the storyline have so far remained hidden, but this production is characterized as a thrilling, globe-trotting journey featuring a band of longtime companions who collaborate to thwart an upcoming global catastrophe while simultaneously rekindling their camaraderie.

The screenplay has been penned by David Coggeshall, known for crafting the action-comedy “The Family Plan” for Apple, as well as Jonathan Tropper, a writer and scriptwriter who created the action-adventure feature film “The Adam Project,” starring Ryan Reynolds.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be part of a fantastic team bringing a game to life! Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger are producing this project, with Robbie Brenner from Mattel Films and Jules Daly joining in too. Can’t wait to see what we create together!

Most recently, Gurira appeared in the AMC limited series titled “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live“, reprising her character Michonne. This series brought her together with co-star Andrew Lincoln once more and explored the post-apocalyptic romance between Rick Grimes and Michonne across six episodes, continuing their story from the popular show. In addition to acting, she also took on roles as an executive producer and writer for the series. It’s worth noting that Gurira is a Tony Award-nominated playwright, making her the first African female writer to have a play on Broadway.

Gurira is repped by UTA, Suskin/Karshan Management,  Jackoway Austen, and The Initiative Group.
