As a longtime fan of Dancing With The Stars, I must say that this season has been nothing short of exhilarating! The performances by the contestants have been top-notch, but the standout couple for me has undoubtedly been Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten. Their unique blend of talent, humor, and infectious energy has made them an absolute delight to watch week after week.
Ilona Maher was the talk of “Disney Night” with her Encanto-inspired dance, and it’s safe to say Alan Bersten’s horrifying donkey costume helped. These two are the most entertaining couple on Dancing With The Stars with thier great performances and hilarious TikToks, to the point that I’m pulling for them to get their own reality show on the 2025 TV schedule. Case-and-point: I couldn’t stop laughing at their attempt to replicate a viral move done by Danny Amendola and Witney Carson.
Previous week, Amendola and Carson found themselves leading the competition, largely due to a performance that convinced me of their strong chances. They’ve been executing moves that no one else seems capable of, as humorously portrayed by Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten on their social media platforms.
Danny Amendola And Witney Carson Set The Competion On Fire With Their Viral Dance
If you happened to miss last week’s “Dedication Night” episode of DWTS that aired on the 2024 schedule and haven’t caught up yet using your Disney+ subscription, let me tell you about an exciting moment. Danny Amendola made his entry as a strong contender, particularly with his contemporary dance routine that left quite an impression. You can watch the performance he did with Witney Carson right here, which earned him 36 points from the judges:
It was a stunning performance, especially with that move which featured him lifting Carson completely off the ground by pulling on her leg. Then, the moment got a second life on TikTok as people tried to create it on their own. Clearly, it takes a lot of strength to pull off, and I’m guessing something more than that is involved too after seeing Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten try to replicate it.
Ilona Maher And Alan Bersten Tried To Replicate The Move, But Failed
I’ll concede that I thought Danny Amendola’s big move came down to upper body strength, but there’s more to it than that, obviously. Alan Bersten and Ilona Maher both took turns trying to lift each other the same way, and kept failing in the most hilarious way:

To put it simply, just as the football player’s unique maneuver has spread widely online, so too has the rugby player’s attempt to mimic it. This isn’t unexpected given that she is a well-known and genuinely humorous TikTok personality.
She’s just as amusing as she is gifted, and it’s a shame I didn’t recognize it earlier. Ilona Maher wasn’t initially among my top picks for DWTS this season, but she certainly has become one now. Her widespread appeal and eagerness to excel are ideal qualities in an average competitor, and I hope she takes home the Mirrorball trophy in Dancing With The Stars Season 33.
This season’s winner isn’t easily predictable since audience votes might cause unexpected twists. Fortunately, we haven’t seen many contestants who lack dance skills persisting due to their popularity. However, Ilona Maher is both an excellent dancer and highly popular on social media, which increases her chances of reaching the finale significantly.
Even though we haven’t reached the end yet, make sure to catch “Dancing With The Stars” every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC. This season has been quite exciting with its viral dance moves and hilarious moments, and with a spooky Halloween-themed episode coming up, I can’t imagine it getting dull any time soon!
