Danny Reinke FW25 Styles an Impending Doomsday

The Fall 2025 collection designed by Berlin’s Danny Reinke exhibited a blend of innocence and darkness. Drawing inspiration from Heinrich Hoffmann’s renowned children’s book, “Struwwelpeter,” which contains moral tales with severe outcomes, he also found motivation in the Doomsday Clock, symbolizing mankind’s proximity to self-annihilation.

Indeed, the newest fashion declaration by the designer, entitled “90 Seconds To Midnight,” came across as an intriguing blend of indulgence and elegance.

Reinke described the fashion line as a potent blend of “historical impact, ominous symbolism, and defiant design,” drawing inspiration from the Biedermeier period, a time in 19th-century Central European art and society that emphasized middle-class ideals such as simplicity and utility. The collection was set against a foreboding color scheme, displaying an anarchic personality with its raw textures, disorderly fringes, and punk-inspired holes; yet, it retained elements of fun and functionality within its rebellious character.

A captivating scissor pattern slices through the collection – appearing on formal jackets and trousers as a print, adorning collared tops as a furry brooch, and making a bold statement as a clutch for the brand’s more flamboyant followers. Coats, crafted in partnership with textile innovator Hannah Kaplan, are fashioned from leftover materials of the collection, and the rebellious pairing of band T-shirts with refined tweed outerwear is both daring and stylish.

In the midst of the gloominess of the designs, there were instances that brought smiles. On evening attire, Swarovski crystals were artfully placed like a peaceful night sky (maybe just before the Doomsday Clock hit midnight); while on striking daywear, vibrant floral patterns stood out in stark contrast but remained cheerful. The moodboard also featured the designer’s beloved childhood tales.
