Actress D’Arcy Carden is set to take part in the television evolution of “The Handmaid’s Tale” during its upcoming sixth and concluding season, airing this spring. She has been added to the cast of the Emmy-winning Hulu series in a guest appearance role.
carden will be joining Elisabeth Moss and the cast following her recent appearances in Netflix hit series “Nobody Wants This,” “Dicks: The Musical,” and “A Man on the Inside.” Although she is widely recognized for her long-standing roles in “The Good Place,” “Barry” and Amazon’s beloved remake of “A League of Their Own,” she has also gained attention for her work in “Sunny Nights,” an Australian dramedy where she shares screen time with Will Forte, having recently completed filming for the show.
According to Margaret Atwood’s novel, “The Handmaid’s Tale” became the first streaming series to take home the award for outstanding drama series at the Emmy Awards. However, it has been quite some time since a new episode was broadcast, with the last one airing in autumn of 2022.
This week, Hulu revealed that the finale of The Handmaid’s Tale will air on April 8th. In addition, they unveiled a teaser trailer for this dystopian drama which has grown increasingly pertinent since its debut in 2017. The series portrays women who are enslaved and forced to bear children for the ruling religious class in a future America that’s veered dramatically off course. With its themes, the show and its original material were published prior to the overturning of Roe vs. Wade and the widespread criminalization of abortion. The final season finds Moss’ character June leading a revolution to permanently alter the oppressive political climate.
In the upcoming series, it’s unclear what specific part Carden will play, but given the historical depth of the show, we can expect her to appear in a flowing outfit, no matter which faction she aligns with.
Representing Carden are firms such as Rise Management, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. The final episode of the show “The Handmaid’s Tale” airs on May 27th.
