I’m thrilled beyond words for the gritty, down-to-earth feel of “Daredevil: Born Again” when it hits Disney+. Its raw and brutal style is what makes Matt Murdock’s comeback on the streaming platform so captivating.
In summary, the combined three seasons of “Daredevil” on Netflix and the two seasons of “The Punisher,” collectively presented scenes that were extraordinarily violent, bone-crushing, and drenched in blood, surpassing the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in this regard. The cast led by Charlie Cox is now set to bring these dark and brutal undertones into Phase Five of the Marvel universe. Showrunner Dario Scardapane, who has previously worked on “The Punisher” with Jon Bernthal, has expressed great enthusiasm about the upcoming Marvel TV series in a manner that hints at its potential connection to his past work. As he stated to Empire:
In my opinion, the intensity of action and violence in this Marvel/Disney series truly sets it apart – nothing else comes close. There’s one scene, in particular, that left me utterly amazed, pushing boundaries far beyond anything I’ve seen on Netflix before.
It’s worth noting that none of the titles related to Daredevil, The Punisher, or the Defenders matched Terrifier 3 in terms of bloodshed at any given moment. However, Kingpin and Frank Castle’s methods of eliminating characters were reminiscent of the era of ’80s and early ’90s action movies where no one’s elbows were safe from being brutally broken over someone else’s shoulder.

According to Scardapone’s assertions, the debut trailer for Daredevil: Born Again showcased an impressive blend of tranquility and intensity. In this scene, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock engages in a casual, daylight conversation with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, while another moment displays a brutal action sequence where a man is violently thrown to the ground, causing his neck to snap.
In the trailer shown earlier, it seems there’s no moment where Jon Bernthal’s character, Frank Castle, is seen in a full-blown berserker state. This could be due to strategic reasons, as this isn’t primarily his series. However, I truly expect that Frank will be at the heart of the “completely insane” scene hinted by the showrunner.
It wouldn’t bother me if that intense, violent scene turned out to be the introduction of Marvel villain Muse in the live-action series. He seems poised to inflict severe pain on New York City, which is distinct from the problems Wilson Fisk is causing as a city official. Granted, I anticipate some Kingpin-like scenes where he brutally harms someone, but will he be the most violent character in this season?
My money remains on Frank Castle and his bushy beard.
In the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again,” we’ll delve into some of his violent traits when it debuts on Disney+ on March 4th.
