Daredevil Is More Acrobatic in Born Again Than in the Netflix Show

In the 2025 TV lineup, the much-anticipated series “Daredevil: Born Again” is gaining momentum as Matt Murdock returns to his suit in modern times and squares off against Muse in a major battle. It’s thrilling to witness the character performing acrobatics, flipping, and soaring through the air, far more agile than in the initial Netflix series. Previously, I had pondered why this was the case, and now, the original franchise producer Steven S. DeKnight has provided a compelling explanation for keeping “The Man Without Fear” largely grounded back then.

Mr. DeKnight noticed a fan commending Daredevil’s acrobatic skills through a cross-post. This spectator also mentioned that DD seems significantly more agile than in the initial series. It’s worth noting that this Disney+ subscriber was pleased when DeKnight offered an explanation, and it essentially boiled down to one key factor:

The situation boils down to a matter of funds. Unfortunately, on the Netflix series, we lacked the necessary finances to carry out that task. Had we possessed them, we certainly would have done so.

During Marvel’s Netflix period, some of the top live-action series in the franchise were produced. These shows received acclaim for their elaborate efforts in crafting intense hallway fights and other action scenes. However, it’s important to note that the budgets for these shows weren’t particularly large. Consequently, the powers of the character from Hell’s Kitchen needed a slight reduction.

In my opinion, the new series “Daredevil: Born Again” builds significantly upon its predecessor, particularly in terms of intensified violence, a testament to how well it was established earlier. Moreover, the increased emphasis on Wilson Fisk and his storyline involving Vanessa is receiving noticeably more focus than it may have without Vincent D’Onofrio’s captivating performance from years ago.

It’s not common for people to argue that Netflix’s Daredevil didn’t excel where Born Again shines, but if there are some who feel this way, they should recall that the original series was highly appreciated, leading to much disappointment when it got canceled. Few TV shows manage to return after several years and still garner critical and audience praise.

The show “DD: Born Again” is coming back for a second season and has cast Matthew Lillard in an enigmatic role. With Matt reprising his character, I’m hopeful that we’ll witness more daring stunts and aerial feats from him, much like what we enjoyed during his performance in “She-Hulk”.
