As a seasoned cinephile who has traversed the winding labyrinth of Marvel Cinematic Universe, I must say that Charlie Cox’s hint at joining a certain superhero team sends shivers down my spine!
Actor Charlie Cox, who played Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Netflix series “Daredevil” and later reprised the role in various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects, remains tight-lipped about which team he’d like to join next, but he recently hinted at something intriguing. The “Daredevil,” first introduced in 2015, played a pivotal role in the grounded MCU series known as The Defenders Saga, alongside Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders themselves. Although the original “Daredevil” series ended in 2018, Daredevil made a comeback in several other MCU projects and will lead his own show again in 2025’s “Daredevil: Born Again.”
At FanExpo Chicago, I found myself in a lively discussion moderated by Joe Deckelmeier from Screen Rant. During the panel, an enthusiastic fan posed a question that had me thinking. They asked which Marvel Cinatic Universe (MCU) actors I’d love to collaborate with in future projects. Without explicitly mentioning any specific actor or character, I dropped a hint about a dynamic group I’d be thrilled to work with. Now, this could be seen as the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, but considering the MCU’s main team, it’s more plausible that I was referring to the Avengers. So, there you have it, folks!
I find myself constantly needing to tread carefully in my interactions, as I have learned through past experiences that one wrong move can lead to a cascade of misunderstandings. Let me give you an example: “I have to be so careful.” You see it now? I can’t even say it without feeling the weight of caution that comes with it. There are so many people in my life, and it seems like there’s always one particular group that I wish I could connect with more deeply. But alas, inviting them into my circle is a delicate matter that requires careful consideration. I’ll share more about this later, as the topic warrants its own discussion.
Marvel Appears to be Setting Up Daredevil as an Avenger
In the original “Daredevil” series, widely recognized as one of the best adaptations from Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios seized the opportunity to reinstate Charlie Cox as Daredevil and seamlessly incorporate that part of the universe into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Prior to this, the Netflix and ABC television series were unable to interact with the MCU because of the division between Marvel Studios and Marvel Television. Although fans anticipated seeing Daredevil and the Defenders emerge from portals in “Avengers: Endgame”, the divide between Marvel Studios and Television made such a crossover nearly impossible. However, with everything now under Kevin Feige’s control, it appears he has significant plans for Daredevil in the MCU.
Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil character has become a significant figure in the Marvel Universe’s grand narrative, the Multiverse Saga. He made his debut as Matt Murdock in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, and had a cameo as Daredevil in this year’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. His latest appearance was in the premiere of Echo. Upcoming projects include leading his own Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again, and voicing the character for the animated show, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Cox has expressed a desire for Daredevil to become an Avenger, and it seems Marvel may be planning to make that dream come true.
In five instances throughout the Multiverse Saga, it appears that Marvel Studios is planning to make Daredevil a key figure in their franchise. Initial concept art for Avengers: Infinity Defense depicted him battling Thanos alongside heroes like The Hulk and Captain America. It’s likely that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will play a substantial role in Avengers: Doomsday, and there’s even speculation he could join the new team of superheroes. Although fans may not get to see him act alongside the original Avengers cast, they would be thrilled if he shared the screen with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, or Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi. If Daredevil becomes an Avenger, it showcases how much the character has evolved since his Netflix series premiere.
