The popular true crime television series and podcast produced by NBC, known as Dateline, has selected Blayne Alexander as their newest on-screen reporter.
The announcement was shared on the Today program airing on NBC on Tuesday, joined by Dateline correspondents Keith Morrison, Andrea Canning, and Josh Mankiewicz, who stood alongside Alexander.
Alexander, who began working with NBC in 2019, will carry on providing content for the Dateline NBC brand, which is fronted by Lester Holt and encompasses various series episodes and podcasts. In an interview with the NBC morning program, she expressed her excitement about returning from maternity leave and starting her new full-time position at the U.S. network, saying, “This is quite a welcome back after being away for four-and-a-half months!
Alexander becomes a part of the renowned show, Dateline, as it delves further into the captivating world of true crime, aiming to expand its influence on streaming platforms and podcasts. The surge in interest for true-crime content has been significant, with spellbinding narratives and intriguing enigmas designed to keep audiences engrossed.
Previously, Alexander was involved in two segments of the Dateline series during season 32. Moreover, she took charge of reporting on significant occurrences such as the 2020 and 2022 elections in Georgia, the COVID-19 outbreak, and social unrest protests occurring nationwide in the United States. Alexander’s journey in television started in Augusta, Georgia, where she worked initially before shifting to Atlanta and becoming a reporter and anchor for NBC affiliate WXIA-TV.
In addition to this, she held the position of a Washington correspondent for NBC News. Her award-winning assignments encompassed reporting on Capitol Hill and the Trump administration for NBC stations nationwide. Notably, “Dateline,” currently in its 33rd season, is NBC’s longest-running prime-time series, and it has extended its reach to various new digital platforms.
