Due to an unexpected family issue, musician Dave Matthews from the Dave Matthews Band has regretfully had to withdraw from FireAid, the charity concert scheduled for January 30th following the tragic Los Angeles wildfires.
Unfortunately, Dave Matthews can’t perform at this week’s FireAid and MusiCares events due to a serious family illness,” the Instagram post from FireAid and MusiCares announced on Thursday.
Previously scheduled, Matthews and John Mayer were set to perform together for the first time at a charity event. On his Instagram story, Mayer expressed, “Sending love to Dave, who will be with me in spirit during our performance @fireaidla.”

FireAid intends to utilize the earnings from the concert to assist the Los Angeles neighborhoods devastated by the tragic wildfires in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena.
The lineup for FireAid features the likes of Mayer, Billie Eilish and Finneas, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Sting, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks and Tate McRae.
The performers at FireAid include a variety of artists such as Mayer, Billie Eilish and Finneas, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Sting, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks and Tate McRae.

Partners such as Live Nation, AEG, and The Azoff Company have teamed up with the Clippers’ home in Inglewood to organize a solidarity concert event, characterized as an evening filled with music and unity. These concerts will be available for viewing through select AMC Theatres, Apple Music, Apple TV App, Max, iHeartRadio, KTLA+, Netflix/Tudom, Paramount+, Prime Video, the Amazon Music Channel on Twitch, SiriusXM, SoundCloud, Veeps, and YouTube. This collaboration signifies the music industry coming together in response to the local crisis.
The money raised from the concert will be used to repair infrastructure, aid displaced families, improve fire safety technology, and develop effective fire response strategies – all with the aim of making Los Angeles more resilient in the event of future fires, according to the organizers.
