As a long-time fan of David Fincher‘s gripping storytelling and intricate narratives, I can’t help but get excited at the prospect of an English-language adaptation of Squid Game. Fincher’s knack for blending suspense, dark humor, and human drama with a dash of social commentary makes him the perfect choice to bring this unique concept to life in a fresh, captivating way.
A Netflix series adaptation of the popular Korean drama “Squid Game,” this time in English, is said to be under development, with director David Fincher set to lead the project.
According to reports, Deadline indicates that the upcoming project for Fincher in 2025 might be his next major endeavor, strengthening his collaboration with Netflix which has produced critically-appraised titles like House of Cards, Mindhunter, and Love, Death & Robots. At present, details about the show are scant, but it’s been suggested that it will likely be a TV series instead of a film, and it will probably take place in the United States.
In a possible turn of events, the upcoming series might serve as the initial scripted spin-off within the world created by Hwang Dong-hyuk’s “Squid Game”, following “Squid Game: Trial of Survival”.
Simultaneously, the second season of the original Korean version of “Squid Game” is set to air on December 26, culminating in a third and final season.
