As a longtime fan of Goosebumps, I must admit that David Schwimmer‘s portrayal in the new season has me genuinely intrigued! The suspense and mystery unfolding in the trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing have me on the edge of my seat. Having grown up with the original series, it’s fascinating to see how the creators are breathing fresh life into these iconic stories.
David Schwimmer seems quite unhinged in the official trailer for “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” displaying extremely odd behavior.
Anthony, portrayed by Schwimmer, wants his children Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin (Sam McCarthy) to enjoy a delightful and secure summer at his Brooklyn home in the second season of the Goosebumps anthology series. He sets one condition: Avoid the basement at all costs.
As complications arise, there’s a possibility that Anthony could be involved, given his pursuit of uncovering the truth about his brother’s death from their childhood and his subsequent disappearance.
As suggested by the series summary, a disturbing danger is brewing, causing these youngsters to swiftly comprehend that ominous secrets lurk within their own ranks. This revelation sets off a chain reaction that gradually unravels a deep-rooted mystery. As they venture into the enigmatic, Cece, Devin, along with Alex (portrayed by Francesca Noel), CJ (Elijah M. Cooper), and Frankie (Galilea La Salvia) become embroiled in the eerie story of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared back in 1994.
Ana Ortiz completes the ensemble of the series by playing Jen, a tenacious police detective who stays connected to her Brooklyn community following a devastating incident during her teenage years that affected close friends.
Originally conceived as a limited series, “Goosebumps” expanded into an anthology following the success of its first season on Disney+, featuring Justin Long and Rachael Harris. According to Nielsen data, it garnered approximately 1.9 billion minutes of viewership in the U.S. during the four weeks following its October 2023 premiere.
The popular series was created and is managed by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, under the supervision of Sony Pictures Television, for Disney Branded Television. Hilary Winston and Letterman take on the roles of showrunners and executive producers, with Stoller, Neal H. Moritz, Iole Lucchese, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Caitlin Friedman, Erin O’Malley, James Eagan and Karl Frankenfield also serving as executive producers.
All eight episodes of Goosebumps: The Vanishing hits Disney+ and Hulu on Jan. 10, 2025.
