Daytime Drama ’Beyond the Gates’ Renewed for Second Season on CBS

CBS will continue to peer Beyond the Gates.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that my favorite daytime soap, “Beyond the Gates,” has been given another season for 2025-26! It’s been consistently delivering great performances and ratings, outshining its previous slot occupied by “The Talk.” In fact, it’s boosted CBS’s daytime dominance, making them the leading broadcast network in this timeframe for an impressive 39 consecutive years. Here’s to many more captivating episodes!

The show, marking the first daytime drama to focus primarily on Black characters since NBC’s “Generations” debuted in 1989, made its premiere in February, attracting 2.28 million viewers across various platforms during its initial week. So far, “Beyond the Gates” has surpassed “The Talk’s” viewership from a year ago on CBS by 48%, averaging 1.82 million viewers there, and has seen a 67% increase in total viewership across all platforms.

2024 rolled around, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new show, “Beyond the Gates,” that CBS had greenlit. This series, a joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP, was also backed by P&G Studios. Michele Val Jean is the mastermind behind this creation, serving as the showrunner, with executive production shared among Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thompson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld. I’m really looking forward to diving into this exciting new gaming world!

CBS is set to maintain its position as the leading broadcast network during the 2024-25 season’s daytime schedule, a title it has held since the 1986-87 season. The long-running game show, “The Price Is Right,” currently holds the number one spot in daytime television viewership with an average of 3.95 million viewers, while “The Young and the Restless” remains the most-watched daytime soap opera, attracting 3.29 million viewers.
