Fans of DC Comics attending the San Diego Comic-Con could find it prudent to manage their anticipation levels, since significant announcements or happenings related to the DC Universe may not materialize, as suggested by Peter Safran.

At Comic-Con 2024, numerous studios were perceived as making a strong comeback following the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes from the previous year. Marvel Studios, in particular, stood out with an impressive presence, creating a buzz when they announced Robert Downey Jr.’s role as Doctor Doom. However, DC Studios chose not to attend this major event. They only unveiled their logo and released a teaser for Creature Commandos, but there was no substantial Hall H appearance for Superman or other DCU titles apart from these minimal showings.

It appears that the trend of a reduced DCU presence at San Diego Comic-Con will persist in 2025, according to statements made during a press conference by DC Studios co-president Peter Safran. He indicated that the studio is not planning for a significant presence at the event, which might disappoint fans hoping for a big showing in Hall H. Since James Gunn’s Superman movie opens two weeks before Comic-Con begins on July 24, 2025, there won’t be much for DC Studios to showcase during that time.

According to Safran’s remarks, a notable presence indicates that there may be minor announcements related to DCU, but as it stands now, nothing has been officially confirmed. This might mean that we won’t see casting news for shows like Sgt. Rock or Clayface just yet. However, fans could potentially catch a glimpse of one of the planned Krypto shorts, and maybe even learn more about the array of animated series under development.

Now, DC Studios is going back to traditional methods for revealing projects, such as press events, although these might not be as spectacular as Marvel’s events.
