Deadpool & Wolverine Is No. 1 at Box Office Again, The Crow Doesnt Fly

As a seasoned moviegoer who’s seen more films than I can count on one hand (and a few toes), I must say, this weekend has been quite the rollercoaster ride! The box office battle between Deadpool & Wolverine and Alien: Romulus was as thrilling as any action sequence in a Marvel movie. However, it’s the underdog stories that truly capture my heart, and this time, it wasn’t The Crow that soared, but rather Blink Twice and The Forge.

Could you imagine Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) crooning this twist on a classic lullaby? “Oh, where, oh where have the Facehuggers gone? Oh, where, oh where could they be? The answer is clear: Deadpool & Wolverine has dethroned Alien: Romulus and taken the top spot at the box office once more. Even The Crow remake didn’t make an appearance to flutter its wings!”

In contrast to its “B+” rating from CinemaScore, the movie titled Romulus experienced a steep decline of 61% between its opening and second weekends at the box office. This significant drop allowed Shawn Levy’s MCU adventure to overtake the sci-fi horror film and regain the top spot. Interestingly, three fresh films premiered during the weekend, but none managed to threaten the dominance of Deadpool & Wolverine or Alien: Romulus for the number one position.

Deadpool & Wolverine Tars & Feathers The Crow

As a long-time movie enthusiast who has been following box office trends for years, I find it quite intriguing to see how the rankings have shifted this weekend. Last week’s top-grossing film, Alien: Romulus, has dropped down to second place with an estimated $16.2 million earnings. Blake Lively’s romantic drama, It Ends with Us, has taken the lead position with $11.9 million.

A fresh entrant, Sony Pictures’ film titled “The Forge“, has made its way into the Top 5 with a total of $6.6 million. Unfortunately, “The Crow” didn’t manage to make it into the top five. However, things take a turn for the worse. The sixth position was taken by “Twisters“, which earned $6.2 million over the weekend. This film has been in theaters since July 19 and can also be found on digital platforms. Interestingly, it outperformed “The Crow” during this period. However, the situation worsens for Lionsgate, as they are the studio responsible for the Bill Skarsgård-led disaster movie.

In a surprising turn of events, screenings for the 15th anniversary of Coraline outperformed The Crow! It’s puzzling how Lionsgate allowed this to happen. Directed by Henry Selick in 2009, Coraline’s animated adventure ranked seventh with $5 million earnings, followed by The Crow at number eight, earning just $4.6 million. To put it into perspective, the projected box office revenue for Transformers One, another animated film opening in September, is anticipated to earn around ten times more than what The Crow managed during its opening weekend!

heads up: It is estimated that the production cost for the movie “The Crow” was around $50 million. However, this figure doesn’t include marketing and advertising expenses.

Excitedly, I’ve just learned that the highly anticipated horror thriller, “Strange Darling,” starring Kyle Gallner and Willa Fitzgerald, has finally graced the screens of 1,135 theaters! Surprisingly, it’s managed to secure a spot just outside the Top 10 at No. 12, earning $1.1 million in its opening weekend. On the other hand, this week’s top honor for best per-theater average goes to director India Donaldson’s “Good One,” with an impressive figure of $16,839!

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to announce that this coming August 39th, two highly anticipated movies will grace our screens. The first, “Reagan,” led by the talented Dennis Quaid, promises an engaging and insightful exploration of the life of one of America’s most iconic figures.
