As a seasoned critic who’s seen more superhero films than I care to count, I must say that the latest offering, Deadpool & Wolverine, is a delightful nod to the good old days of Marvel Fox movies. However, the brief appearance of Juggernaut from X-Men: The Last Stand left me yearning for more.

Stepping into the role of a movie critic, let me tell you this: Despite its humorous jabs, Deadpool & Wolverine pays a heartfelt tribute to the Marvel Fox films of yesteryears, a time that seems long past. For those with keen eyes, a fleeting glimpse of Juggernaut from X-Men: The Last Stand is hidden within the scenes, but his new appearance is strikingly different from the original. Recently unveiled concept art sheds light on the inventive approach taken to incorporate the cameo, as the original actor declined the invitation to join Deadpool & Wolverine.

“Someone requested that I create a female version of the Juggernaut character from X3, but unfortunately, it didn’t make it into the final film. However, I can’t help but think how cool and kick-ass that could have been!”

In the original movie “X-Men: The Last Stand,” Vinnie Jones played Juggernaut, but he didn’t reappear in the sequel of “Deadpool.” During an interview with Yahoo! Movies UK, Jones shared that he was invited to return, yet he couldn’t negotiate a cameo appearance in the movie. Moreover, he wasn’t keen on the process of wearing a prosthetic suit and drinking through a straw for a day.

It turns out that I was recently offered a role in the latest installment of Deadpool, and after discussing it with the director, I expressed my reservations about donning that suit. It’s quite a challenge, both mentally and physically, as it takes a toll on you when you’re wearing it all day and can only drink through a straw. Despite being one of my favorite movies ever made, unfortunately, they didn’t have the budget to afford me in the suit.

It’s evident that Jones has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with his minimal part in the movie “The Last Stand.” Earlier, he openly expressed his displeasure over the decrease in his screen time in the third X-Men film, even though he was enthusiastic about the character and had agreed to a three-movie contract. It’s plausible that this unfavorable experience significantly contributed to him deciding not to reprise his role as Juggernaut in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the part I played, but I really need to emphasize how let down I felt about it. Matthew Vaughn had cast me for an amazing role and script, and Juggernaut was a fascinating character. I committed to playing him in three films, demonstrating my dedication. Unfortunately, under Brett Ratner’s direction, the character seemed to have been watered down. I spent most of my time on set in my trailer, which made for one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had in terms of feeling like I was contributing significantly.”
