‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Script Reveals the Mickey Mouse Joke That Disney Cut From Movie

As a long-time fan of the Marvel universe and a connoisseur of edgy humor, I have to admit that the cut line from Deadpool & Wolverine was a gem that Disney couldn’t handle. The original joke, though a bit over-the-top even for me, showcased Ryan Reynolds’ knack for delivering hilariously crass humor that Deadpool is known for.

Deadpool and Wolverine often made crude, humorous remarks, but there was one joke they made that crossed the boundary set by Disney.

The script of the R-rated action-comedy, made available on Disney’s FYC site, unveiled a humor element that Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy mentioned having to remove from the movie initially. However, they didn’t divulge the specific joke they had to eliminate.

Wow, can’t we just scrape together one more X-Man? Disney really has a tight budget. It feels like there’s a whole bunch of Mickey Mouse merchandise blocking my airway.

In the movie’s final edit, the dialogue was altered to this: “Gosh darn it, now Disney resorts to thriftiness? It feels as though Pinocchio shoved his nose into my behind and started fabricating stories left and right.

Following the successful release of “Deadpool & Wolverine” in July, shattering numerous box office records, Levy hinted at a discarded line during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He mentioned that the original joke was replaced with a Pinocchio gag, but he declined to reveal the specifics of the original joke at that time.

In August, the filmmaker stated that just one dialogue from the entire movie needed to be altered. Originally, Ryan and I had agreed to keep the original line secret, but I’ll share that it was changed to another explicit line involving Pinocchio thrusting his face into Deadpool’s rear end and then telling lies non-stop. When I suggested this as a replacement for cleaning up the language, Ryan responded with that line, demonstrating his boldness right up to the limit.

Levy co-wrote the screenplay with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Zab Wells.
