Deadpool & Wolverine’s New ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ Could Change Everything

Deadpool & Wolverine's New 'Infinity Gauntlet' Could Change Everything

As a longtime Marvel fan and avid gamer, I’ve spent countless hours immersed in the rich, intricately woven tapestry of the MCU. The latest news regarding “Deadpool & Wolverine” has me absolutely buzzing with excitement!

Contains spoilers for “Deadpool & Wolverine”

The last trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” has announced the comeback of a beloved X-Men character and suggested the possibility of Spider-Man’s return. Additionally, it disclosed the identity of the film’s primary villain. This role is taken on by Cassandra Nova, portrayed by Emma Corrin from “The Crown.” As a telekinetic twin of Charles Xavier, she wields the ability to manipulate reality and time with her sling ring. The implications of this power are significant, as the ring contains the reality and time stones from the Infinity Gauntlet, which could potentially alter the Marvel Cinematic Universe drastically.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: Cassandra holds an incredible power that can shape the core of existence itself. Yet, it seems like she won’t be the sole one with these abilities. This could be why Wolverine and Deadpool, two characters from different realities, can interact with each other. And perhaps, they’re using these powers to create portals, enabling them to travel between dimensions.

In his recent Instagram post, Ryan Reynolds was the first to unveil the rings. You can catch a quick peek of them in the trailer beneath as well.

How did Cassandra Nova lay her hands on the time and reality stones, if when we last saw them, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) had returned them to the place where they’d lain pre-snap? Her ability to hop between locales in the multiverse might have something to do with that. Until then, audiences can only be sure of this — both stones have traveled far from their humble origin points in the MCU.

The Reality and Time Stones have seen a lot of action

In an earlier stage, the reality and time stones were situated in distinct universes, under the control of different individuals. Prior to being united, Thanos (Josh Brolin), driven by his insatiable thirst for power, was the only one capable of bringing them together as seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the movie “Doctor Strange,” Dr. Stephen Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) comes across the Time Stone for the first time. This stone is contained within the Eye of Agamotto, which he later learns to control and employs to vanquish Dormammu (also voiced by Cumberbatch). At one point, Strange ends up wearing the Eye, but eventually decides to bring it back to the Masters of the Mystic Arts’ sanctum in Kamar-Taj. However, the stones are later gathered together due to Thanos’ actions and subsequently divided as a result of Steve Rogers’ intervention.

As a curious gamer, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of “Deadpool & Wolverine” on July 26. But what kind of abilities will they bestow upon Cassandra? Will those powers be a blessing or too heavy a burden for her to carry? Gamers and moviegoers alike will uncover the answers together when we finally get to witness this R-rated adventure unfold.
