As a lifelong comic book enthusiast who has seen more superhero movies than I care to admit, I must say that the recent release of Deadpool & Wolverine has truly been a game-changer for me. The long-awaited appearance of an authentic Wolverine, portrayed by none other than Hugh Jackman, was undeniably a highlight, despite the unexpectedly diminutive stature of our favorite adamantium-clawed hero.
In the much-anticipated film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” fans finally got to see a more comic book-authentic version of everyone’s favorite mutant, Wolverine. Although Hugh Jackman donned the famous yellow suit in this movie, the true comics accurate portrayal left many fans surprised. This version of Wolverine sported retractable adamantium claws and a hairstyle reminiscent of Jim Carrey’s character in “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.” To create the shorter version on screen, director Shawn Levy employed a body double and digitally superimposed Jackman’s face over it. The real Wolverine is often humorously referred to as a “short king,” standing at 5 feet 3 inches tall.
In an exciting turn of events, the unacknowledged body double for the compact Wolverine character has been disclosed online, causing a stir among fans who adore him. Luke Bennett, a professional bodybuilder and actor, showcased sneak peeks of his Deadpool and Wolverine attire on Instagram, offering a glimpse behind the scenes. Although Bennett’s work as a body double went unnoticed in the movie, he has now gained recognition from the audience following his post. Besides his role in the recent Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Luke Bennett has also made appearances in ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ and ‘The Northman.’
“I loved working on this film because of stars like Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, along with director Shawn Levy, who made the short Wolverine tale a reality on the silver screen.”
I want to express my gratitude to those who told me as a child that joining the X-Men wasn’t a real job. Little did they know, being part of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ has been an incredible, exhilarating journey! I feel honored to contribute to this fantastic movie, helping bring an authentic Wolverine to life on the big screen!
What Next for Deadpool & Wolverine?
The duo of Deadpool and Wolverine has achieved an unparalleled success in the R-rated movie genre, surpassing Todd Phillips’ Joker as the highest-grossing R-rated film ever made. This level of success often signifies a promise of more to come from Hollywood, but will Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise their roles for a sequel?
Hugh Jackman hasn’t made it clear whether or not he will reprise his role as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie Deadpool & Wolverine concludes with Wolverine joining Deadpool’s party, surrounded by friends including Laura (played by Dafne Keen). This leaves the character’s future in the MCU undecided. Fans of Marvel were surprised when Jackman returned to the role after he previously announced his retirement following Logan, and even the actor himself has joked about his inability to stick to retiring from playing Wolverine.
Regarding Ryan Reynolds and potential future projects, it seems that Deadpool 4 may not be in his plans. During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Reynolds expressed no desire to participate in Deadpool 4 if Marvel Studios decides to make the film. Having portrayed Deadpool for 15 years (including X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Reynolds joked that his family would disown him if he agreed to a fourth installment.
Oh dear, this isn’t good at all. It seems my lack of a prenuptial agreement with my wife and children could lead to us parting ways. Without a prenup, I stand to lose everything, leaving me financially ruined. In desperation, I might have to take on the role in Deadpool 4 just for the money.
