Moore appeared poised to win the Best Actress Oscar following her victories at the Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for her remarkable performance in “The Substance“. At the Golden Globes ceremony, she gave a powerful speech recalling an instance where a producer referred to her as a “popcorn actress”, expressing both humility and gratitude for her first award in her 45-year acting career. However, Madison also claimed awards at the BAFTA and Independent Spirit Awards, making the race between these two actresses quite tight. At the Oscars, it was Madison who triumphed as one of five wins, from six nominations, that “Anora” earned, with writer-director Sean Baker creating history by receiving four trophies for the same film.
